    Chilkoot Horseback Riding

    When it comes to exploring Alaska's incredible natural bounties, four legs are better than two! You'll find that out for yourself while prancing through the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park. Saddle up for some fun! You'll begin your day with a quick driving tour of Skagway, followed by a scenic coastline ride to Alaska Excursions' Dyea ranch. There, after a brief safety presentation, you'll mount up beside an experienced handler and set off for nearly two hours of riding through the park. As you ride, you'll enjoy stories of the area's past, including tales of the Klondike Gold Rush. You'll see plenty of signs of those hectic times as well, such as the ruins of a former gold rush town and the Slide Cemetery. You'll also enjoy sweeping scenery featuring pristine mountain backdrops, sprawling forest, and Alaskan wildflowers. Riding out onto the Dyea flats, you'll spend some time taking in an overlook view of the Lynn Canal. This is a great chance to spot a range of native wildlife, including bald eagles! After returning to the ranch, refreshments such as Alaskan salmon pate await, before your ride back to Skagway. Vote "neigh" for adventure!

You could spot both whales and seals at play, and will marvel at cascading waterfalls plummeting into the fjord's depths. Suiting up in rubber boots and a life jacket, you'll then walk to an overlook for a perfect view of the Davidson Glacier. You'll tour the mountain lake at its base in a 31-foot Voyageur canoe, learning about the area from your guide, and spotting some of the area wildlife. Back at basecamp, a picnic lunch awaits during which you can reminisce about all you've seen, and get psyched for the thrilling return voyage that awaits!

    Juneau Dog Sledding

    Sure, dog days are generally a drag. But when you're sitting on a sled, that's not a bad thing! This thrilling dogsled experience begins with a trip to Musher's Camp, driving through the Tongass National Rainforest on Douglas Island. Arriving at the camp, you'll meet the mushers and Alaskan huskies they train. You'll then board a wheeled summer-time sled, and your journey will begin! Excited dogs will pull you along on a scenic romp through surreal Alaskan woodland. As you go, your musher offers insights into dog training and how to pilot a sled. Summer sledding is an integral part of the routine in order to train them for winter races, and this is your chance to take part! Returning to camp, you'll meet a dog handler and retired sled dog racer to learn about the care the dogs receive from the staff. You'll also take a walk across a suspension bridge overlooking Fish Creek and sit down to an interactive presentation about races and equipment used. You'll finish up your day by meeting the adorable husky puppies. Cuddling with the dogs is part of the process of socializing them and essential to their future success as sled dogs. That next leg involves a mile-long, zigzagging ride through the Tongass National Rainforest that is sure to be the highlight of your day. You'll enjoy being pulled by the huskies aboard a custom-built wheeled sled designed for summer training. Then, it's back on the unimog for a return to the kennels, where you'll learn about the work that goes into training and caring for the dog.
