    Turnagain Turn Tour

    Salmon Berry Tours
"Turn... again?" Yes, again! Trust us, you'll want to when you see the incredible panoramic views at the top of Mt. Alyeska. In fact, you might catch yourself spinning about for some time, as you try taking in all there is to see. In one direction, beautiful glaciers and foothills -- in the other, meltwater pools -- in yet another, more foothills, and beyond! But let's take it from the beginning: first you'll get picked up at your hotel and head down the aptly named Turnagain Arm, to the aerial tram. Then you'll enjoy a relaxing tram ride up the mountain, where you'll be treated to the aforementioned view. After you're through turning and taking it all in, you'll get to check out the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, home to bears, musk ox, wood bison, and other critters of note! Lunch is included, in case looking at any of those delicious animals makes you hungry. That was a joke. Don't eat the animals.

    Denali Highway Jeep Excursion

    Denali Jeep Excursions
If you're taking an excursion in Alaska, there are a few things you should probably know about. #1. Polar Bears -- don't hit them (they're hard to see in the snow). #2. You simply MUST ride the Denali Highway. After all, it was named a "Drive of a Lifetime," by National Geographic Traveler Magazine... AND if there was a #3, it would be "Take your camera," but that's a moot point, in the smartphone age. That said, this route is a photographer's paradise. Along the way you'll enjoy views of snow-capped mountains, icy glaciers, and panoramic vistas flanking the Denali Highway. Not to mention all of the wildlife you might come across if you keep your eyes sharp... As driving the Denali Highway is prohibited by most rental vehicle companies, this exclusive excursion provides access to more of Alaska's spectacular scenery and wildlife, and is a great alternative to crowded bus trips. Each Jeep has 4 doors -- perfect for a quick fire drill, even more useful for swapping drivers, and a CB radio for communicating with the guide so stops can be made along the way. Wanna know a little CB sign off? Repeat after us: "Ten-four, good buddy!" Or, if that's not your style you can always keep it short and sweet with, "Roger."

    Salmon Berry Tours
Glaciers, Glaciers! Who wants a glacier! Get em while they're hot. Err... that came out wrong. These beauties won't be around forever, so come and check them out while you still have the chance. You'll start the trip with a complimentary ride from your hotel to Mt. Alyeska, where you'll take a tram up half a mile to the viewing decks of the Roundhouse Museum. Weather permitting, you'll be able to see several glaciers from there. Then you'll take the tram back down the big hill to one of the finest eateries in the very-northern United States; bottomless soup, sourdough bread, desserts, beverages, and a cozy atmosphere all await you. Then a quick stop at the Conservation Center, where you can see all types of animals, including bears, eagles, elk and bison, before heading off on a 1 hour cruise across Portage Lake to look at more glaciers. Classic Misty Fjords Flightseeing

    Taquan Air
If you can't decide on an art museum or a scenic outdoor adventure -- may we suggest viewing works of "art" forged by the very hands of nature? The Misty Fjords National Monument "exhibits" some of the most dramatic scenery in Alaska. Boasting 2.3 million acres, it's almost four times the area of Rhode Island. But only by air can you fully appreciate the aesthetic beauty of this land, slowly crafted by the hands of nature over time -- specifically, the hands of glaciers. Massive glacier action created the ice-rimmed wilderness before you, built across the span of tens of thousands of years. Really puts things into perspective, right? So keep an eye out for the glaciers' masterpieces, including majestic fjords, cascading waterfalls, and jewel-like lakes, all of which, you will find, are dotted with abundant wildlife. Marvel at sheer walls of granite plunging over 3,000 feet into the fjords, lush forests of spruce, hemlock and cedar clinging to snow-capped peaks, in this land of incredible natural beauty and rugged grandeur. Best accessed by air, this vast untouched wilderness was first identified in the journals of explorer Captain George Vancouver in 1793. See New Eddystone Rock, a striking remnant of early geological activity, at the entrance to spectacular Rudyard Bay. This will serve as your introduction to the monument. Your pilot will be sure to point out glacier-carved fjords, beautiful river valleys, and pristine mountain lakes, identifying the scenic wonders for your viewing pleasure as you fly overhead. As mentioned, the dramatic Misty Fjords terrain is home to a multitude of wildlife. The astute observer may be rewarded with sightings of brown and black bear, Sitka black-tailed deer, wolves, moose and bald eagles. There will be plenty to view and learn about as your expert bush pilot flies over this paradise. Visible only from the air, see the splendid 1,000 foot waterfall flowing from Big Goat Lake, which was named for the region's concentration of mountain goat. Colonies of these marvelous high mountain creatures can be spotted and photographed from the air. So the next time you're looking to see some REAL art, refer to Exhibit "A": Alaska, by air!
