    Classic Misty Fjords Flightseeing

    If you can't decide on an art museum or a scenic outdoor adventure -- may we suggest viewing works of "art" forged by the very hands of nature? The Misty Fjords National Monument "exhibits" some of the most dramatic scenery in Alaska. Boasting 2.3 million acres, it's almost four times the area of Rhode Island. But only by air can you fully appreciate the aesthetic beauty of this land, slowly crafted by the hands of nature over time -- specifically, the hands of glaciers. Massive glacier action created the ice-rimmed wilderness before you, built across the span of tens of thousands of years. Really puts things into perspective, right? So keep an eye out for the glaciers' masterpieces, including majestic fjords, cascading waterfalls, and jewel-like lakes, all of which, you will find, are dotted with abundant wildlife. Marvel at sheer walls of granite plunging over 3,000 feet into the fjords, lush forests of spruce, hemlock and cedar clinging to snow-capped peaks, in this land of incredible natural beauty and rugged grandeur. Best accessed by air, this vast untouched wilderness was first identified in the journals of explorer Captain George Vancouver in 1793. See New Eddystone Rock, a striking remnant of early geological activity, at the entrance to spectacular Rudyard Bay. This will serve as your introduction to the monument. Your pilot will be sure to point out glacier-carved fjords, beautiful river valleys, and pristine mountain lakes, identifying the scenic wonders for your viewing pleasure as you fly overhead. As mentioned, the dramatic Misty Fjords terrain is home to a multitude of wildlife. The astute observer may be rewarded with sightings of brown and black bear, Sitka black-tailed deer, wolves, moose and bald eagles. There will be plenty to view and learn about as your expert bush pilot flies over this paradise. Visible only from the air, see the splendid 1,000 foot waterfall flowing from Big Goat Lake, which was named for the region's concentration of mountain goat.     LeConte Glacier & "Little Norway" Tour

    You there! Freeze! Stop what you're doing and join Alaska Waters Inc. for an amazing glacier tour! Sitting in a 12-mile fjord at the head of LeConte Bay, the spectacular LeConte Glacier is not only North America's southernmost tidewater glacier, but it's also part of a massive system of glaciers that stretches for 120 miles between the Stikine and Whiting Rivers. All around this remote fjord, snowy peaks rise high into the clear Alaskan air to heights of 4,000 feet, and thundering waterfalls plunge into its depths. You'll travel these remarkable waters aboard a covered and heated jet boat, maneuvering between fields of icebergs and spotting both nesting harbor seals and bald eagles preying on seal pups. Afterwards, you'll make a 1-2 hour stop in Petersburg, also known as Alaska's "Little Norway." There you can grab a bite to eat or visit the Petersburg Museum. This charming community also offers plenty of souvenir opportunities. Depending on tide conditions, the Petersburg stop may occur at the beginning of the tour.     AnAn Bear & Wildlife Observatory Tour

    Up for some wild times? Just bear with us for a moment! This trip to the remote AnAn Bear & Wildlife Observatory is your chance to learn about bears while viewing them up-close in their natural habitat! You'll begin your day of adventure with an hour-long, 35-mile boat ride via the Eastern Passage between Wrangel Island and the mainland. During this portion of the journey, you'll enjoy the comforts of a covered and heated jet boat and are welcome to bring along snacks or even a meal. Upon arrival, you'll meet up with US Forest Service personnel for a quick orientation, before traversing the ½ mile trail that cuts through the observatory. This trail consists of a narrow boardwalk without handrails (including around 300 steps) and will take approximately 20 minutes to walk. As you walk, you're likely to spot some of the local black and brown bears that live in the area. Your guides know these bears well and are trained to understand their various personalities in order to keep you safe on your journey. The local AnAn Creek has one of the area's largest pink salmon runs, drawing numerous bears to the area. Other predators chow down there as well, including bald eagles and harbor seals, making this a rare opportunity to observe all of these creatures in close proximity to each other. You'll even be able to make use of a photo blind below the observation deck to snap a few memorable shots. What a rawr opportunity!

    Glacier Lake Guided Kayak Trip

Luckily you'll be in the hands of an experienced guide as you paddle around these obstacles in your very own kayak! Just a few miles from downtown Juneau, the Mendenhall Glacier has created a stunning playground for outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to the aforementioned ice, you'll find yourself surrounded by sweeping vistas of rainforest-covered mountain peaks with powerful waterfalls plunging downward from atop them. While embodying the "real Alaskan" experience, this incredible adventure is open to paddlers of all experience levels. As you paddle, your guide will teach you everything you need to know, in addition to enhancing the experience with stories of intrepid naturalists.     Stikine River Wilderness Adventure

    Located in the heart of Tongass National Rain Forest, the Stikine River is a majestic wilderness area with vast amounts of wildlife. Enjoy a fully guided tour of the Stikine LeConte Wilderness area in one of our covered, heated jet boats. Your tour will depart from Wrangell and cross the 17 mile wide Stikine River Delta where your Captain will then maneuver the river via back-sloughs and waterways in attempt to increase wildlife viewing opportunities. Learn Tlingit legends, along with history of the area, and facts about the flora & fauna from your Alaska Waters guides. Explore approximately 70 miles of this untouched, pristine wilderness area through a spectacularly stunning mountainous region covered with the lush rain forest and large waterfalls on the way to Shakes Glacier. Note that Shakes Lake is occasionally filled with icebergs that restrict access to the face of the glacier. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, wildlife will be spotted such as: Black and Brown Bears, Moose, Black Tailed Deer, Steller Sea Lions, Harbor Seals and Bald Eagles. Many tributaries of the Stikine River are home to spawning salmon gathered in large schools (July and August). Guests will have at least one opportunity to stand on dry land and stretch their legs during this tour.
