    Basic Ballet

    Did watching Black Swan inspire you to want to try ballet? Okay, that movie was pretty dark. Maybe Billy Elliot? Whatever made you want to try, the pointe is that this is the perfect place to start! Introduce yourself to the graceful dance of ballet at Alonzo King Line Ballet. You’ll learn the basic positions, correct body alignment, and basic ballet terminology from an experienced instructor. This is a great class if you have no previous ballet experience, and you’ll have the chance to practice correct posture, centering, and positioning your hands on the barre. Not only is this an awesome workout, but improving your posture can actually make you look (and feel) taller! So get out there and gain a couple inches today!

BALLET! To move with such grace and fluidity takes an incomprehensible amount of fitness and skill. And during this drop-in class, you’ll be introduced to the fundamental techniques of ballet! Though you may not appear on the stage at the Met anytime soon, there are still numerous benefits associated with a workout like ballet. Ballet builds flexibility and agility, and you will quickly find yourself carrying over your newfound coordination into other aspects of life.     Ballet

    You’ve seen “The Nutcracker” from the audience, but have you ever thought about the view from the other side of the stage? Well it has to start somewhere. In this class, you’ll begin with the study of basic elements of positions, steps, simple jumps, and turns, and then you’ll progress to longer combinations at the barre and in the center. You’ll learn the “shapes” of dance, such as line, circle, and others. And all the while, develop the musicality, etiquette and excitement of a ballerina. This course is designed for ages 15 - you name it, and built in a simple structure in order to develop rhythm, coordination, good body shape and a lively imagination. For both, males and females, it can help with the development of a child personality while bringing out an alert, confident manner. Before you know it, you’ll be dancing circles around Tchaikovsky!
