    Evening Volcano Explorer from Hilo

Want to really heat up your Hawaiian vacation? Head to Kilauea Volcano for some explosive entertainment! Make Kilauea Volcano and Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park your destination, and stay past sunset. This is a fully narrated adventure that starts at the KapohoKine Adventures' store in downtown Hilo. Boarding your tour vehicle, the lush greenery of Hilo gives way to stark black basalt lava flows in Kalapana, a village completely destroyed by the advancing lava just a few years ago. First stop will be a walk across the recent lava flows to the newest black sand beach on the island. You will witness how the volcano engulfed everything in it's path, even completely filling in Kaimu Bay with molten lava. This walk takes you over what once was the best swimming beach on Hawaii Island. Remember, if the ground starts shaking ... Run really, really fast.

Hilo Shore Excursion: Lava Forest and Falls

Bruno Mars said, "Hawaii is paradise. It sounds cheesy to say it, but there's music in the air there." And he was right. But there's something else Hawaii also has: Stunning historical volcanoes. (Volcanoes which, might I add, in addition to being jaw-dropping creations, make for awesome selfie backgrounds!) And with this tour, you'll have access to the Big Daddy of 'em all, Kilauea. You'll start by viewing Rainbow Falls, then travel on back roads through mango trees as you learn about the area known as Kaimu. Your tour ends with a drive through a macadamia nut orchard and a sampling of all of the delicious flavors of mac nuts. The macadamia nut farm also has a great parlor to purchase sandwiches, hot dogs, and best of all, coconut macadamia nut ice cream!
