Nestled high above the island's shoreline, the dense rainforest of Hakalau is home to some of the world's rarest plants and animals. Learn the incredible history of Hawaii's endemic flora and fauna while you search for rare birds.

Discover native plants and animals including carnivorous caterpillars and happy-faced spiders. And make sure to keep an eye out for the beautiful birds flitting about the forest, such as the Amakihi, I'iwi, Elepaio, Apapane, and Akiapolaau.

Note: Breakfast, lunch, beverages, walking sticks, binocular, warm wear, day pack and rain ponchos are provided. The tours departs from Queen's Marketplace at Waikoloa Beach Resort, the junction of Highway 190 and Waikoloa Road and Hawaii Forest & Trail Headquarters.

Groups of 5 or less require 24 hours notice, groups of 6-11 require 48 hours notice. With less than the minimum notice, guests are charged the full price of the tour.
