Lava trees. Papaya fields. Volcanically-heated hot springs. Boats. Black sand beaches and -- Stop, stop! You had me at lava.
This is one heckuva tour. Head out to Puna with the Big Island crew and explore Lava Tree State Park where you'll walk amongst tree molds created by a 1790 lava flow.
THEN you'll ride past papaya fields to Kapoho where a later 1960 lava flow inundated farm lands and the Kapoho village.
Next up, head on to Ahalanui Park and take a dip in a volcanically heated warm pond. You'll visit Pohoiki Bay where you'll find local fisherman and surfers hard at work and play. And if you think THAT sounds like the perfect itinerary, well there's one more thing: To end the tour, you'll cruise along the beautiful Puna coastline to the end of the road at Kalapana, where lava continues to increase Hawai'i Island's landmass and has created a new black sand beach.
Sigh. Wish we could go with you.
