Walking around the island, you’ve most definitely seen the beautiful works of coconut frond weaving -- perhaps you’ve even bought a hat or two from a talented street vendor.
Now you can learn how to weave coconut leaves yourself! During this class you’ll learn the techniques of Hawaii’s Kupuna (elders) as you weave your own bowl, bag, or papale (hat).
Your family and friends will surely be impressed by your newfound skills once you show them your DIY creation. They’ll be begging for you to make something for them!
What to expect
- Learn how to weave coconut fronds, or coconut leaves, the way that Hawaii’s Kupuna (elders) did
- Weave a bowl, bag, or papale (hat) using only coconut fronds
- Take home your creation to display proudly in your room or even use on a daily basis
- Pick up a novel skill that you didn’t think you would learn before
