Did you know that Irish fairies love good wine? In ancient times, Irish royalty would put a barrel of wine out for the fairies, and sure enough, it would be gone in the morning. We tried this over here at the Vimbly office, but we didn’t catch any drunken Irish fairies. Just found the intern asleep under her desk the following morning.
It’s a well known fact that, when consumed in moderation, red wine is good for the heart. Resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant found in the skin of grapes, is known for its numerous health benefits including the prevention of blood clots and damage to blood vessels. It also helps to reduce levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol, which can build up and clog your arteries, resulting in a heart attack.
But now there’s good news for those of us who prefer beer or spirits; studies show that all kinds of alcohol can benefit the heart. The Mayo Clinic reports that alcohol has been shown to raise the levels of HDL (good) cholesterol, and like resveratrol, help prevent against blood clots and artery damage. Moderate amounts of alcohol reduce the risk of heart disease, but between red wine, beer, and spirits, we’re not yet sure who does it best.
Vimbly offers both beer classes and wine classes, so whether you prefer wine or beer, we’ve got you covered!
