Sweet & Savory South End Walking Food Tour (Weekday)
October 30, 2016
Wonderful tour!! We did the savory and sweets tour! The places, the historical information and the back stories of the chefs / owners was great! Rachel, our guide, would always stop to update and everyone could hear, ask questions and understand. She made everyone feel comfortable and our group had a great time getting to know each other from differ parts of the country and world. Highly recommendable!!

Took the South End tour last weekend. With a recent (mediocre) wine tour experience in mind, this was splendid: history and food mixed well and flowed naturally. No stilted lectures. And the itinerary seemed to well-represent the area.
But I write primarily as a gluten-intolerant person. BoB was deeply accommodating. And all my replacement dishes were actually *better* than the standard alternatives (according to my wife who tasted everything).
The salad at Parish Cafe had world-class bleu cheese - I could have eaten blocks of that. The meringue at Flour was the size of your fist. The tuna at Stephi's was sushi-grade with an avocado puree and soy reduction. Mmm. Mmm. Good.
We'll be taking our moms back at some point. Highly recommended.

I had the pleasure of taking the Bites of Boston food tour of the South End neighborhood in Boston and had an incredibly wonderful time!! As someone who has lived in the Boston area for a while now, the tour allowed me to see a lovely area of the city in a whole new light. Alyssa has a bright and welcoming presence and is extremely knowledgeable. All of the food samples were the perfect size and absolutely delicious, giving a great taste of all of the restaurants. This is a top notch tour and a MUST if you are visiting Boston or simply want to learn things you never knew about the place you live. A fantastic way to spend an afternoon!

Our tour guide, Rachel, was seriously knowledgable and lovely. I originally wasn't interested in taking the food tour but went along to make my sister happy. The food was good Rachel's knowledge and excitement for Boston food and history definitely made the tour great, in my opinion. She even gave us tips and ideas for what to do for the rest of our time in Boston. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Our first food tour and we loved it! Our guide Lauren was very knowledgeable and made the 3 hour tour extremely enjoyable. The 6 eateries were unique and so was the food. The choices were well thought of and collectively a good lunch portion in the end. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Boston.

Fabulous food tour! Our tour guide met us promptly at 12:00 and gave us a brief explanation of our itinerary. Food samplings were tasty and the perfect portion. Well, I would have taken another bacon wrapped date. :) Our guide provided great information relating to the history and architecture of Boston and specifically the South End. We enjoyed all of the stops on our tour and appreciated the recommendations of other places to try while in Boston. We had some dietary restrictions on what we could eat (as did others on our tour) and accommodations were made so that we did not miss out on anything. The tour lasts a full 3 hours but you'll enjoy every minute! I highly recommend this tour and look forward to visiting Boston again to see if they've branched out to other neighborhoods. We'd definitely book again!

Ah. May. Zing!!!!! This is for someone who is ok with walking rain or shine and just wants samples of food. Our first and last stop we got a very good portion of food and the 4 in between we're much more of a sample, which I was totally ok with. All the food we had was so delicious and our guide was so full of knowledge on Boston and food! Great tour

South end has no doubt immediately become my favorite neighborhood in Boston after this tour. This tour is def as good as it can get even tho its a tiny bit pricey. 3 hours of walking to various eateries and historical locations in the South End, however, is def worth the price! I learnt a lot about Boston history/geography, and our guide, Rachel, was very knowledgeable. She delved into the history of the 6 restaurants we visited, and it helped us connect to the vision of the various chefs.
FOOD SAMPLES WERE AWESOME! WILL COME BACK AND DIG INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD NEXT TIME IM HERE IN BOSTON!

My wife and I spent a week in Boston and Bites of Boston was something we booked a few months in advance. All we knew ahead of time was that it would be 3 hours of walking to various locations in the South End. Looking back over our week, this was probably the highlight!
We learned much about Boston history/geography, and our guide, Rachel, was very knowledgeable. She also delved into the history of the 6 restaurants we visited, and it helped us connect to the vision of the various chefs.
The food samples were generous and unique, and extremely tasty. We highly recommend this tour for tourists and locals alike!

This tour does everything right! A nice mix of eateries all within a great walking area. Lots of stops for interesting facts and tidbits of information about the area, the history as well as more current events. I highly recommend this tour. I especially liked that it was in the south end, an area we might not have otherwise visited on this trip to boston. I also love the details on this tour. We were all handed a map at the start so we knew exactly where and how we were getting to the next stop, The map also included information about each eatery (the name, the address, phone number, website, hours of operation and how to get there by public transit) a handy tool for revisiting these establishments on our own following the tour. And each food tasting location we visited is a place I would go back to. Great selection of food and an awesome tour guide.

The South End- with its rich history (very much a part of Boston's overall history) and its mish mash of cultures- provides the perfect back drop for a leisure Sunday! First the food: with 6 stops you get to experience everything from the classic fried clam to a Venezuelan style plantain wrapped in bacon dish! With just the right mix of sweet and savory and with each dish being just the right food-to-walking ratio, Alyssa (who was a great tour guide) kept us satiated and satisfied the whole way through! Now the history: Without providing many spoilers, you will discover some of Boston's crazier history (like where there is a mass grave downtown) to its modern history (why a place that use to be a series of islands became a very complete metropolitan city)!
Again, as aforementioned, the walking is not torturous at all and with ample scenic stops along the way, it keeps the experience intact!

Our tour guide, Alyssa, is a wealth of historical information! We were visiting Boston from Portland, OR and took the Sweet and Savory food tour on my husband's 40th birthday. It was a GREAT way to spend 3 hours! Alyssa even did something "extra special" to celebrate my husband's birthday, but I don't want to give away the surprise in case there are other birthday folks planning to take the tour. We walked through beautiful South End neighborhoods, learned unique facts about the area/homes/landscape, and stopped at 6 restaurants for a little sampling of their menus! We had a really nice time and couldn't believe all the information that Alyssa had to share....she is a fabulous tour guide that made our experience the best it could be. Book this tour and experience it for yourself! =)
