Is it dance or is it kung fu? Derived from one of the world’s oldest martial arts forms, the balletic practice of Tai Chi actually combines elements of both.
Nicknamed “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi incorporates flowing motions and postures designed to relax the body and cycle positive energies throughout. During this class, you'll become versed in those movements, as well as breathing techniques designed to compliment them.
In addition to its health benefits, Tai Chi does in fact help ground the practitioner in an effective self-defense style, teaching that the strength and power of your opponent can be countered with artful moves and a clear mind, allowing you to turn your opponent’s attack against them.
Note: The classes are held at Newburyport Public Library 94 State Street, Newburyport, MA 01950 USA.
