Introduction to Flameworking

Definitely a fun experience and well worth the price! The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and skilled, on top of also being great at teaching us the steps - they even explained the science behind everything too!
In the "Intro to Flameworking" class you get to make a marble and a fish. Let me tell you, you must have steady hands for this type of work, though I get a good chuckle every time I look at my lopsided, cross eyed fish!
The place itself holds a max of 6 students, but the evening I went, there were only 4 of us in the class. I think for an intro class, 4 was the perfect size with 2 instructors assisting us. Even with only 4 of us, I felt at times it was hard to get them to check on our work or remind us what the next step was (as they teach you all the steps at one time, then its' our turn to start creating, so its hard to remember each step, even though there is a diagram on the wall to help).
FYI the items need to go into a kiln for the night, so you have to come back another day to pick up your creations. They do offer to ship the items to you if you'd like, and you just pay for the shipping costs, so not a bad alternative if you are coming from farther away.

Introduction to Flameworking

I had the absolute pleasure of attending the "Intro to Flameworking" class this weekend and it was more than amazing. Trina was a great teacher and she was super patient with her students. She was very knowledgeable, talented and funny. She was friendly and made us all feel so comfortable. There was also another teacher with Trina as well, named Jocelyn. She was also very nice and super knowledgeable. Both girls are just dolls. Not matter how many things I screwed up they made me feel like I was a master of the arts. I found the atmosphere to be chill and laid back and working with the glass felt so therapeutic. I have a feeling I will be taking every class they have to offer! It's in a great location and you just can't beat the price! I can't wait to have fun at Fiamma Art Glass again ...

Introduction to Flameworking

My boyfriend and i took the two hour Intro to Flameworking class and it. was. awesome. Trina is clearly extremely knowledgeable, patient and an excellent instructor. The studio is small, but when you're working with 2000 degree flames, the last thing you want is a big, impersonal class.
Trina opened the class by teaching us a little about flameworking, different kinds of glasses, and techniques before showing us how to make a marble (which is, in case you were wondering, a lot more difficult than you'd think!). She walked around the studio, answering questions and offering hands on tips, but mostly letting us work on our own. The next project was a fish, which Trina expertly demonstrated. Mine turned out to be a little more of a... dinosaur/fish but Trina was very positive and encouraged us to go with the glass and to make whatever we wanted!
There is street parking all around the studio, though you shouldn't park right in front, as that is 15 minute and 1 hour parking. Also, obviously, it gets HOT in the studio, so make sure you wear clothing that will keep you cool, but at the same time making sure your t-shirt won't get in the way or anything of that sort.
I cannot recommend this studio enough - it was such a fun experience and I'd definitely be interested in trying other classes (even though my marble and fish were pretty miserable-looking!)

Introduction to Flameworking

I can hands down say this is the best glass studio I have been to. I took the an introductory flameworking class where we made glass hearts. I have signed up for two more sessions because my experience was that wonderful. Trina was an amazing instructor making sure we knew all of the safety and also that we were doing everything correctly while really letting us be hands on. They really knew what they were doing and made you feel extremely comfortable. I loved that they really let your creativity go while guiding you to make sure you ended up with a great end product. I drove an hour to this studio and will be thrilled to do it again. The studio comfortably holds 6 to 8 people and they do classes, studio time, and small gatherings. Bring your snacks and water and you can easily make a day of this.

Introduction to Flameworking

I really enjoyed the beginning flame working class. Katerina and David are great teachers who make an intimidating-looking medium safe and accessible. They started with an explanation of the tools and techniques, emphasizing the safety precautions. Then, they led us step-by-step through making a marble and a small fish figurine. Everyone in the class successfully completed the projects and had a good time in the process.
Not only are they excellent teachers, but they are also masters of their art form. Their work is gorgeous! Around the studio you can see their hand-crafted goblets, vases, and figurines. I will definitely keep them in mind the next time I need to give a special gift.
