    For nearly 2,000 years, fusing was the primary method for making small glass objects. Those relics in the museum were all fused. Return to those days and create something equally beautiful. This class will introduce you to the basic principles behind forming glass in the kiln to create beautiful fused glass pendants. You will be introduced to all of the tools, basic glass cutting and kiln forming theory. When these one of a kind pieces come out of the kiln, a Diablo staff member will attach a sterling silver bail by which to hang your pieces.

    "Tick-tock on the clock, but the party never --" what's that? You don't have a clock? Well, well. Look no further than Diablo Glass School: In this three hour workshop, you'll create a one of a kind fused glass piece that will be assembled into a clock. Using clear glass, color scraps, frits, and stringers, you'll explore the medium of fused glass. You will complete a few small pieces to get their creative juices flowing followed by one larger piece to be made into a clock. After the piece has been fired, a few days after the class, Diablo staff will drill a hole in the center of the piece and install the clock parts. Return one week later to pick up your fully assembled fused glass clock (shipping options available too)!

    Glassblowing TEEN CAMP - 4 day Summer Intensives

    Teens who are interested in working in a team atmosphere with a lot of physical activity will enjoy working in the glass blowing shop. Diablo's experienced instructors will guide teens through a series of demonstrations and hands-on exercises to build their understanding of the medium. There is a three students to one instructor ratio in the hot shop to ensure safety and plenty of individual instruction. First, students will learn basic glass manipulation by creating a paperweight. They will move on to learn how to introduce air into the piece to create a bubble. From there, students can make glasses and small vases. In the afternoon students will move into the kiln forming studio. There they will assemble pieces of glass that they will heat in the kiln to create a fused piece of glass. Their first assignment will be to make some pendants. They will learn basic glass cutting techniques, along with kiln forming and color theory to create coasters and plates.
