Beginning at the McCormick Bridgehouse and Chicago River Museum, you’ll first explore the Chicago River history and view the intricate bridgeworks that helped put this city on the map. From there, walk along the Mainstem and South Branch of the river, enjoying stunning views of Chicago’s cityscape and stopping by bridges along the way. During the walk, you will learn the history behind these fascinating bridges and how a Chicago-type bascule bridge operates. See it all and take in the views. Just remember to breathe because it might take your breath away.
Note: Walking distance is about 1.5 miles and involves climbing stairs. Up to two children under the age of 12 may accompany a paying adult at no charge. Fare for water taxi is included. Tour runs rain or shine.
