Robot Building Date Night September 10, 2017This was such a great event! Not only was the robot building experience so fun and unique, the whole experience was fun with a robot themed movie, drinks and popcorn. Really great date night event!! I 100% recommend.

Electronics and Soldering Workshop March 5, 2017I had grand plans to start building my robot army here. alas I am not mechanically inclined. My son and I started off with a beginner level robot. we signed up for the workshop so that my clumsy hands and my non-engineering brain could be under the mechanical tutelage of a pro - in this case Cecelia who had so much patience with me and my son. Not only did she have to help us both in putting together the first stage of our Terminator robot, she also had to man the store. Kudos to her! We had ALOT of fun and will be back to purchase some more kits. We must practice building our robot soldiers to conquer the earth!!! *cue evil diabolical laugh* MUHAHAHA
Here is our first attempt at creating artificial IFE!!!! -

Electronics and Soldering Workshop October 23, 2016Fantastic service. Would've given 5 stars if not for the robot build project which was more complicated than anticipated.
The kids had a blast, but there were definitely some frustrating moments. We went with the smartbot as recommended by the staff. However, we should have gone with a different choice. This particular robot wasn't as easy as we had hoped. A few kids even shed tears out of frustration! Additionally, there were some defective ones so the staff used up the spares that they had brought.
I appreciate the flexibility as we originally were planning an on-site party. But then the headcount forced us to go off-site. They were accommodating... for a price. They brought a lot of gear with them so I now I understand. The three that had shown up for hands-on help were great. They were patient and polite despite the demanding crowd.
I'd definitely recommend this place to others who wish to do a robot party, but recommend a different robot for the build project to ensure a tear-free event. Also, an on-site party will help keep costs down so long as headcount stays around the 12-15 mark since their space is rather small. -

Robot Building Date Night September 5, 2016Our instructor was great! Super knowledgeable and helpful. Also-we loved the little activities before and after. My husband and I are going through a rough patch so for us to work together on something was nice. My Favorite was the robot carrying the popcorn! Thanks for a great night!

Electronics and Soldering Workshop June 6, 2016I recently attended a birthday party here. Every detail was perfect- kids were engaged and learning about circuit boards and built a robot. Had a wonderful experience!

Electronics and Soldering Workshop March 17, 2016I came here for the Robot Date night and my boyfriend and I choose two robots to build. One only took ten minutes and the other took about 40 and we were kind of watching Wall E in the background. The staff was super nice but I just can't justify the price of the ticket and paying an additional 20 or so for each kit (and then was charged extra for the batteries). I wouldn't recommend this.

Electronics and Soldering Workshop November 17, 2015review is based on a single visit i made approximately 2 months ago or so. i was in the area and robocity came up on the yelp app as i was just browsing for local businesses near by. i like robots and i have a pre teen nephew who has shown me an interest for DYI assembly type of toys.
service was amicable and helpful. i wondered around for a few minutes asking a few questions and checking out their merchandise. i ended up getting a pretty neat robot that walks and when it falls, it gets up and keeps on going, like a boss. pretty cool right? idk, things like this amuse me (f you, dont judge me)
the kid loves it. and to find out they do these other activities, it seems to me like i am missing out on something here. definitely on my things-to-do-in-chicago list. -

Robot Building Date Night September 25, 2015It was a great time, however when I booked the event it never said that we needed to also purchase the robot kits upon arrival. The description of the event made it sound like everything was included. So that expense doubled the price. What I thought was an affordable unique date night turned expensive quickly.

Electronics and Soldering Workshop June 1, 2015My boyfriend and I were visiting from NYC and booked the date night here. It was so much fun and so relaxed. I'd recommend this to anyone. Bring some wine (there's a liquor store on the corner if you forget!) and a good attitude and you'll have a blast!
It would be cool if you didn't have to buy the kits, if it were just included in the price for the night - but really - not a deal breaker. I did one that was $16 and my boyfriends was about $20. Well worth it.
Best night ever!! :) -

Electronics and Soldering Workshop February 12, 2015Me and the bf did the workshop there.we had so much fun. Brought wine and had good times. We watched the movie Short Circuit while we were making our Tamiya Tiger. It was really fun. The cute little robots brought us our wine and popcorn. I really want one of those.
One thing I really liked about them was that they were constantly checking up on us. They actually gave us time time to finish. That's a good really good point.
I kinda had to sober up because you have to think (not much) to make the tiger. Still not sober as I'm writing this review. Lmao. I guess we didn't sober up enough and we didn't finish our Tiger. But hey, there's always when we get home. Keep up the good work guys. -

Electronics and Soldering Workshop January 24, 2014Robot Date Night. Do it.
Nick was a blast, building robots/eating popcorn (delivered BY A ROBOT)/watching super cheesy robot movies is a pretty badass way to spend two hours, and as my boyfriend so eloquently asked, "why is everything so reasonably priced?"
Oh and it's BYOB. Literally the only way to improve upon something that's already this fun. BYOB robots = un-improve-able. Not a single thing I'd change.
Except for that part where we bombed at robot trivia. But the consolation prize was bubbles, so... -
