Neapolitan Pizzeria (Lincoln Square) March 11, 2019This was our first experience using Vimbly to book an activity. The moment we stepped into the Chopping Block, we were kindly greeted. The whole event was organized, clean and very interactive. The chef was great to work with and he not only went through the recipes, but offered many great tips and answered all the questions. We also enjoyed the fact that we were allowed to eat our food and not be rushed to leave the event when it ended at 8pm. Overall experience was great. Thank you.

Pasta Workshop (Lincoln Square) April 6, 2017I took the pasta workshop at The Chopping Block and had a great time. The class was hands-on, from making the pasta from scratch to rolling it out, cooking it and eating it. Chef Joey Hahn was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us about knife skills and cooking techniques. The dishes we made were delicious and there were tons to take home after.

Knife Skills (Lincoln Square) January 19, 2017Had a blast last night at the Knife Skills class! This was my boyfriend and I's first time at the Chopping Block and we already can't wait to go back!
There were a total of 11 people in our class and two instructors. I felt like everyone got their share of attention and never felt like I had to wait for instruction or help. Although you aren't actually cooking anything, I would highly recommend taking this class, it is a good starting point for those out there wanting to enhance your cooking techniques.
I did love that we were able to take our veggies home and will be making a minestrone soup with ours tonight! -

Chicken 101 (Lincoln Square) December 19, 2016Cooking, drinks, shopping, fun, food and a great team building experience! Come here every year for a team building experience with my coworkers! We always end up having a blast! Food we cook is great and you always have several options. I'm a pretty advanced on my cooking skills so I don't learn much, but I'm pretty sure others do! Who doesn't enjoy good wine, friends and cooking? Don't forget to check out the shop afterwards! Always end up with cool cooking items!

Knife Skills Plus (Lincoln Square) November 14, 2016While I haven't taken any classes yet, I went in trying to buy my first big boy chef's knife. My "Chef's knife" from target wasn't cutting it anymore...literally. Having walked by the store a few times in the past, I never actually went in. When I walked through the door, the atmosphere was very energetic (it seemed a Thanksgiving Workshop had just ended). The store design is very warm and inviting.
Since I cook with the equivalent of caveman/cheap cookware, I felt like a fish out of water. The staff was very attentive immediately. They answered all my questions and let me try about 7 different knives. They showed me basic chopping technique, and not once was I pressured into buying anything. I went in looking for a basic entry level knife, but after the demoing everything, ended up leaving with a Shun Classic Chef's Knife. 1000% happy with the purchase.
Also, I happened to walk in on a customer appreciation event, so there were further discounts applied.
All in all, I would come back in a heartbeat. Currently I'm looking towards the Knive Skills class and trying to gather some friends to take this. -

Seafood 101 (Lincoln Square) September 4, 2016Took the Seafood on the Grill class. Melissa and Blair were fabulous. Even an old time BBQ'er can learn a lot of new tricks. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to expand their skills. Tuna, Snapper and Scallops recipes were easy to follow and prep. Scallops melted in your mouth. Caesar Salad had a few tricks that you shouldn't miss. Wonderful dinner and great chance to meet other people and couples.
They have a good selection (Limited obviously) of beer and Wine, but you should be able to find something. Corkage fee (BYOB) seems a little high. Good selection of classes on their website. We will be back for more classes. -

Bloody Mary Brunch May 9, 2016My mom and I decided to do a Brunch cooking class for Mother's Day. Our chef was Carrie. She was very nice, funny and knowledgeable. The food was AMAZING and she made it easy to follow along with. We had a great time and walked away with some new tricks! On top of it, this is in a great location. When we were done with the class, we walked around Lincoln Square and made a day of it. I'll be going back very soon!

Chicken 101 (Lincoln Square) February 13, 2016Had our office party last night at the Lincoln location. What a fun night! Our chefs were amazing! I love to cook and learned some great techniques. Tapas Party (Lincoln Square) February 7, 2016I got a gift certificate for a 2-person class for my birthday and selected the Tapas Party to do. We LOVED it! I would say my boyfriend are both pretty skilled in the kitchen, but we both learned new techniques that we didn't know before (I loved learning what a real minced garlic paste is). We made bacon wrapped dates, empanadas, paella and goat cheese baked in tomato sauce. The dates were absurdly simple and became a hit at every holiday party I brought them to. I can't wait to go back for another class!

Wine and Dine (Lincoln Square) December 5, 2015Had a blast last night doing the wine n dine with GF! Food was good, drink was acceptable but the chefs and help were awesome and great fun. Learned a whole lot, and am already hungry thinking about all the things I am going to try to make now.
Was great for someone with a little experience or none at all in the kitchen. Lots of money saving ideas, and suggestions on different variations of what we actually cooked. -

Know Your Gnocchi (Lincoln Square) December 5, 2014My review is long overdue. I took Quincy's gnocchi class a few months ago and had the best time. Not only was the food AMAZING, and did we learn a lot about many facets of cooking, but Quincy went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary restrictions. Quincy is the best! Highly recommend taking one of his classes!
