About this Activity
Have you ever witnessed a stand-up comedian so bad that you wish you could just get them off the stage, but you don't have a cane to stick out and give em the old Vaudeville hook? The WIP Theater is here to make that happen.
During Traffic Jam, an alternative stand-up comedy experience, you and the other members of the audience have total control of the comedians on stage. This open mic gives all amateurs a minimum of 3 minutes to impress the crowd, and then, based on your laughter, a stoplight will tell a comedian whether they should should keep it up, try a little bit harder, or just get off the stage!
You're guaranteed to leave the theater with a smile on your face because, though the routines may be hilarious, the amount of fun you'll have is no joke!

This is such a great venue. It's BYOB? The shows are cheap and very good. Tons of great restaurant options for before of after.

The perfect place on the north side. I've been to the W.I.P. a handful of times now over the last year and have to say haven't been disappointed once. The Stand Up is 2nd to none in the city (unless it's a $50 Headliner... I guess), the Improv is awesome and I even liked the musical Roadhouse 66! Yea, a musical. Tony, Timmy and Mike all bring knowledge and talent to the experience and it shows through their shows & bookings. A little something for the north side that provides a breath of fresh air and something new to do within walking distance!

This place is great! Killer comics, beautiful theater and literally the nicest staff in the entire world. Timmy, Tony, Jessica and Luke are angels sent from heaven to provide Edison Park with the comedy it so rightly deserves.

This is one of the finest places to go see a comedy show. Nothing but the best people are running this theater. They constantly put on great shows. The doors are also easy to open.

Great comedians. They still did awesome even though it was empty thanks to the hawks game! It's byob so make sure yo bring something to enjoy during the show! Will definitely be going back soon!

This place is great! I have been several times, and it's always worthwhile. I usually go for the comedy on weekends, but they have other events on the schedule; I saw a magic show once, which was impressive. Cost is a reasonable 15 to 20 bucks, and alcohol is BYOB. There is NOT a store in the immediate Edison Park neighborhood that is open during the 8pm or 10 pm showtimes, so come prepared if you're interested in a drink at the show. I will definitely be back - love the WIP!

The WIP Theater is the kind of black box that makes the performing arts accessible to everyone, even in small communities. It's run by a group of people who are not only invested in the community of Edison Park, but also deeply passionate about comedy and theater, and live performance in general. I've been several times, and it's been impossible not to enjoy myself.
Tickets are easily affordable, you can bring your own drinks and eats, and chances are the owners and the performers will all personally thank you for coming. They have shows for kids through adults, and other fun things like trivia nights and classes.
What more do you want? A hippopotamus for Christmas?
