    Jazz Dance Workout

    This dance class lays down the law on hip moves, with a motion to get funky! While it may harness the soul of jazz, this workout explores a huge range of genres, including modern, latin, hip hop, and free form, while you dance to an eclectic mix of world beats. Classes take a fitness approach, starting off with simple warm-ups, then transitioning to more complex combinations and body isolations. Emphasis is placed on body-toning techniques designed to build strong, flexible muscles. No matter what your skill level, if you want to use dance to get fit, then passing on this class would be a criminal offense.

    Beginning Jazz

    “If you have to ask what Jazz is, you’ll never know.” - Louis Armstrong Don’t ask, just do! At Alonzo King Lines Ballet, you’ll learn the fundamental movements and steps of jazz dance. Practice the jazz square, different isolations, the jazz walk, and more. This improvisation-heavy form is a great chance to express yourself and connect to music in a new way. Working out in the studio is also the perfect opportunity to make new friends that share your interests.     Vogue and Tone

    Let’s be real… You’ve perfected your catwalk in the privacy of your bedroom and mastered different runway poses in the shower. No shame! Especially not in this Vogue Tone dance class! Believe it or not, “vogue-ing” is actually a dance style that can provide you with an intense body workout. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? You’ll practice the six elements of vogue-ing, including hands, spins, catwalk, duckwalk, dips, and floor performance on your journey to a better-toned body! This class will begin with a 15-minute warm up during which you’ll partake in core work and isolation exercises. Afterwards, you’ll learn some of the extensive history of Vogue as you master the different elements, each strengthening different parts of your body. The choreography you’ll learn will be infused with other forms of dances such as jazz, modern, ballet, hip-hop, and Afro-Haitian! You’ll see it takes much more than just killer genes to make it in the modeling industry!
