Skip the coloring books; you’ll soon be far beyond that.
Prepare to up your coloring game. In this pencil, charcoal and conte drawing class, kids and parents will study a variety of artistic methods under the tutelage of a professional artist. By observing plastic molds and live models, the whole family will learn to take their artistic expression to the next level in a relaxed, studio environment.

Nothing says autumn like carving pumpkins; why not create them instead?
Come Halloween, the family tradition may be to carve pumpkins, but why not shake things up this fall season and blow glass ones, too? This glass blowing class welcomes all skill levels and families to shape their very own glass pumpkins. Practice gathering hot molten glass from the furnace, coloring the glass and ultimately molding and blowing it into your own autumn-inspired creation. Afterward, an assistant will add your stem and let it cool overnight. The next day—voila! Prize pumpkins for the whole family.

Mosaic 101 is everything it’s cracked up to be.
Blending art history and craftsmanship, you, your partner and the kids will create some wonderful mosaic designs to take home and show off to family and friends. Working with colorful glass materials and an 8x8 canvas (per person), you’ll learn the basics in studio before returning home with handouts and resources so you can work closely with any future “projectsâ€â€”also known as broken vases.

Enjoy some ‘wheel’ fun with this pottery class.
Your kids love getting their hands dirty—now let them get creative with it! Learn the joy of spinning and shaping cool, wet clay to bring your creative visions to life. Who knows? Maybe you’ll even want to take your creation home with you.

Fold up some family fun.
Okay, so this class is across the bridge, but you’ll leave this origami lesson as an expert paper folder. It’ll be worth it, promise! As a family, you’ll learn to bring beautifully patterned paper to life in your favorite shapes—from cranes to gnomes. In 45 minutes, you’ll indulge in a relaxing art form that has been practiced is both Eastern and Western cultures for generations all while improving fine motor skills. As a bonus, you’ll leave the class with several samples of your work—otherwise known as home decor for you and delicate toys for the little ones.

A butcher, a baker and you, the candlestick maker.
People of all ages have a fascination with fire. Instead of letting your child play with a box of matches, why not turn your future pyro into a future artist? This candlemaking class will teach you the basics of artfully molding wax, giving you and the fam choices when it comes to color, design and even scent. As you craft your perfect candle, you’ll be able to see the personality of each member of your family showcased in the final product. And you’ll each be taking home three candles too—perfect for the next time the power goes out.

Sudsy fun.
Is there a better way to encourage your teens to wash up before meals than by using soap you’ve made together? This class, for kids 16 and up, will teach you the soap making basics, with a focus on all natural ingredients. After the class, you’ll know the ins and outs of the cold process of making soap, meaning you can skip the farmer’s markets (though they’re fun to visit with the fam as well) and do it yourself. While your family’s creative soaps cure, you’ll take home samples, meaning you’ll never be without the best soaps for pre-dinner handwashing.

Paint the town whatever color you like.
Take in the city from a different perspective. This 3-hour painting class is probably better for bigger kids, but the experience of painting the city from Sausalito will totally be worth the trip. With supplies provided, you’ll learn to paint from experienced instructors as you take in San Francisco’s skyline from an oceanside location. Of course you can always paint the town red, though we’re sure the instructor will have some color tips as well. Head home after the class with your family’s artistry in tow—it’s time to bring that bare living room wall to life.
