About this Activity
Ever hear of this little plumber named Mario? He dresses in red and has a brother Luigi? What about Hello Kitty or Pikachu? These kawaii characters represent the Japanese contemporary drawing style, and that’s what your kids will explore and practice. Creating characters out of their own vision and design, your child will use various forms of mixed media, such as crayon scratch, origami collage, acrylic color, and oriental paper, to integrate their own uniqueness into their artwork. The instructor teaches not only the importance of classical drawing techniques, but also Japanese manga art through origami and clay modeling, which helps students create more diverse works with three-dimensional aspects. Their new favorite character might be whatever they draw. The story begins here.
