Death Valley National Park Tour May 19, 2017My wife and I booked a South Rim Grand Canyon excursion and helicopter tour through Maverick. While the helicopter tour was outstanding, we spent the vast majority of our 14 hour day with Greg, our driver and tour guide from Detours to whom Maverick outsourced the driving leg. Greg was upbeat and knowledgeable about local history, natural history and geography. He made the long ride to and from the South Rim from Los Vegas enjoyable. He was waiting for us when our helicopter tour ended, and he led us to his favorite viewing spots on the South Rim. My only interaction with Detours was via Greg, and it left us with a powerful impression.

Death Valley National Park Tour March 28, 2017Great and informative tour to the el dorado canyon mine. Got morning snacks, water, funny guide. Very helpful. The tour stopped at maverick helicopters which was exciting to see that's how they get their namesake (this was the detour), they stopped in the maverick terminal to let us purchase coffee and gave us a hot cinnamon roll. All they did was let us explore the terminal and gift shop, they had photos of peter lik which was really neat, no one tried to sell me a helicopter tour but I got to ask about it. We stopped over Hoover dam which was great for some information and photos. Drove through to Nelson Nevada and did the tour, the tour was awesome, the goldmine was so neat and interesting and hopped on the bus again for our last detour. We stopped at lake Mohave. It was beautiful day. We are back to our hotel by noon and ready to explore more!
I went on another tour with James he knew anything you wanted to know about any national park! Great Bryce Canyon day trip! So unique and such a magnificent place to see! Detours is a fantastic company! Enough stops on this long drive but still back in town for a fun night. Bryce Canyon is not nearly as busy as the Grand Canyon so seeing it from the perspective of being able to go to multiple national parks it is so worth it! -

Death Valley National Park Tour November 5, 2016A Blast! Exactly the ATV experience we wanted. Fast, Fun, Adventurous and the perfect duration so we could get back to wasting our money at the casinos. Safak led our group and Danny picked us up from the hotel. They were both nice and fun! Great company!!

Death Valley National Park Tour November 3, 2014Fantastic trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, with other fun stops along iconic Route 66. I was traveling on my own and wasn't sure which tour company to go with - glad I picked Detours. Was picked up on time by tour guide, Alan, and we only had one other couple on our trip, so plenty of room to spread out in the van. The vehicle was nice, clean and comfortable and there was a DVD player so we watched movies during the ride up and back.
Alan was fantastic and was like a human wikipedia about the canyon and the Hoover Dam. This was my first trip to the Grand Canyon and it was well worth it!
A few tips:
- If you are getting picked up at the Venetian, note that the pick up is at the lower level of the Sands Convention Center, NOT at the taxi stand outside the hotel.
- There are plenty of stops along the way to use the restroom and pick up extra snacks.
- The couple on my tour paid extra for the helicopter ride into the Canyon and said it was absolutely amazing.
- The trip from Las Vegas to the South Rim takes much longer than the West Rim, so plan on an all day trip - we left at 6:30 a.m. and returned around 8:30 p.m.
Thanks for an amazing trip! -
