Brownstone Jazz Festival and Fish Fry Concert Series

During the 1930, perhaps even earlier, one didn't have to go into Manhattan for the Jazz scene. Brooklyn had one of it's own. You're invited to a magical evening of music, as you'll be taken behind the scenes of this undercover jazz venue. Retreat back to a different time and spend the evening in an intimate setting. You'll experience the enjoyment of a live jazz concert, a Southern fish fry buffet, and lastly an open mic to delight your palette. Included in your experience is an upright grand piano, such as the ones once used to create some of today's classic Jazz tunes on Pan Alley Row, grouped alongside other acoustic style instruments in what is, THE ROOM. See the many venues that housed jazz greats like Thelonious Monk, Randy Weston, Miles Davis, Max Roach, Hank Mobley and others. Travel back in time for an exceptional night of history and jazz.

    Harlem Juke Joint Jazz Tour

    (9)
Ever want to be that cool cat that knows where all the hidden nightspots are? This tour is your chance. Led by a neighborhood insider that knows everybody and who everybody knows, you'll hit the floor of one Harlem's most legendary venues, Minton's Playhouse. The "birthplace of bebop" was the stomping ground of some of the biggest jazz icons of the mid-20th century. If you're a jazz vocalist or musician, you might even get to jam alongside the world-class performers of the Sugar Hill Jazz Quartet. In addition to partying at Minton's Playhouse, you'll pay homage to some of the great musicians enshrined on the walls of the landmark Apollo Theater. While these two destinations are must-stops, your tour guide might elect to spontaneously divert you to one of the many local dive bars in Harlem if she catches word of an impromptu jam session breaking out that can't be missed. This is a Harlem experience you won't get through any travel book!
