    Learn to Swim Clinic

    (7)
This course is focused on the mental aspect of swimming and how you "feel" rather than how you look. The first hour of this 3 hour beginner's course will be an interactive classroom discussion, followed by 2 hours of shallow water instruction. Topics of discussion will include, but are not limited to, the fear and mental aspects of swimming, what leads to adult non-swimmers, staying in control, common misconceptions of swimming, physics of water and floating, sculling and breathing. The last 2 hours will be spent in shallow water. Here you will work on the basics of walking in water, putting your face in the water, holding your breath, emptying your lungs, finding your natural front float, and finding your natural back float, controlling your buoyancy with breathing, gliding and propulsion. You will also work on conserving energy in water by learning that water supports you regardless of depth.
