Hollywood Hills Day Hike June 13, 2017I had a day left in Los Angeles and wanted to see Griffith Park. I decided to take the hiking tour with this company because the time and the price was right. I am glad that I made this decision. Our guide, Peter, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable of the area and had a lot of stories to tell about the history of the area. Part of the climb was a little steep so make sure you have good shoes. The trip was worth the money. My only advice is to make sure to do the tour on a day that the observatory is open. We did not get to go in which is something I would have liked to do.

Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike May 31, 2017The most fun I had on my trip to LA! We did the Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike one evening after attending a conference during the day and had a great experience. Our guide, Kayla, was amazing. She was extremely friendly, upbeat, and knowledgeable. During the hike to the top of Mt. Hollywood we saw amazing views of all parts of Los Angeles and learned a ton about the LA area, the Greek Theater, the history of Griffith Park and the history of the Hollywood sign (which we got several views of during the hike). We also had awesome views of the Griffith Observatory and ended the hike there and took a walking tour of the building.
Some pointers:
1. The hike is not easy but it is definitely do-able if you are in moderately good shape. Not surprisingly, there are several steep inclines on the way up Mt Hollywood. It definitely feels like an accomplishment at the end. Other reviewers said they did this hike with their kids. I am not sure how old their kids were but I wouldn't bring kids under 10.
2.The hike is advertised to be 2.5-3 hours and approximately 4 miles. On this particular night, we started at an alternate location because of a country concert at the Greek Theater. This added about a mile each way to the hike and we ended up being gone for a little over 4 hours. I don't mean for this to deter anyone, but if it were me I would like to be able to mentally prepare rather than be surprised and/or have made plans to be somewhere right after.
3. Wear good walking shoes, hiking boots, or sneakers. Be aware that they will get dirty, so if you have a brand new pair of sneakers, maybe wear your old ones instead.
4. Bring cash to tip the guide. They work really hard to make it a great experience for everyone! -

Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike May 30, 2017Want to get active on vacation? Want to save the environment? Want to be a tourist and see all LA has to offer? If you answered yes to any of these questions - this company was made for you!
We recently did the Sunset Hike and LA in a Day Bike Tour! My booty made me sore but I came back from vacation weighing less than when I left!
We started off our vacation with the Sunset Hike in Griffith Park with Chase. It was a great hike, but we did closer to 6 miles on the tour. Chase was very knowledgeable, fun and attentive. He could tell when the group needed a break or photo opportunity and did a great job to accommodate all of us.
Later in our trip we did the LA in a Day Bike Tour with DW and David. David was only in training but both were great!! 32 miles on bike is not a joke. It's a LONG ride, but so worth it to see every little part of town. The second half of the ride was much easier than the first half, but you make it ALL over LA. You'll stop for lunch in Venice beach for a wrap, smoothie and people watching.
Disclaimer: both the Hike and Bike are active tours. Be ready to get the heart rate up. Both tours take the hardest part out in the first half. The Hike starts with a pretty serious incline. The Bike starts with very serious hills in Beverly Hills. Be ready!!!
Like other reviewers mentioned - both the Bike and Hike took longer than advertised. I mention this because it could mess up evening dinner plans. They should probably think about updating the times to include an extra hour since each tour ended an hour later than anticipated.
Also, if you have padded bike shorts - WEAR THEM! -

Hollywood Hills Day Hike April 17, 2017This was one of he best hiking tours I've been on. Hike was semi-challenging. Tour guide brought us to some great spots for photos. Chase was the best tour guide ever! Also recommended some great dining spots. Definitely got my money's worth. This tour is a must if you're in LA.

Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike December 18, 2016This was an amazing hike/tour. The location was stunning but our guide Eric was entertaining and so informative! (And his calves were also very impressive. ) you can hike the mountain with out a guide, but we learned about the original land owners the scandals, the areas we were looking at, the Hollywood sign with history and video the ending at the Griffith observatory at sunset. Amazing. Even my teen was interested in the stories and history. Worth every penny

Hollywood Hills Day Hike December 12, 2016We had a great time on our Hollywood bike tour. We had a group of seven people that ranged in age from 4 years old to 63 years old, and everyone loved it. Our young daughters had a blast, and we never felt unsafe with them on the road. One daughter rode a tag-a-long, and the other rode in a trailer. Danny was a funny, informed tour guide. We will be bringing more of our guests here when they come to visit us.

Hollywood Hills Day Hike August 16, 2016Bikes and Hikes LA is amazing. I took the LA in a Day and it didn't disappoint me. The people in the office were really nice when they were signing me in. We ate lunch at Venice beach and it was amazing. My guide was so knowledgable and kind. He really showed his interest in all of us and made sure we were comfortable during the entire ride. This tour made me see so much and i enjoyed every second of it. I'll definitely do another tour with them when i'm back in town!

Hollywood Hills Day Hike August 15, 2016Did the LA in a Day tour after arriving from Europe. It was amazing and helped me fighting against the jet lag. My guide was very friendly and enthusiastic, whilst being informed and securing the safety of all guests - perfect combination! At the end of the day I was feeling really good for having done such a good workout and seeing so much of the city in only one day. Definitely the best way to experience the city, especially in comparison to driving a car when looking at the traffic here in LA.

Hollywood Hills Day Hike August 15, 2016Great customer service, great tour, got to know parts of LA/Beverlyhills that I did not know about, your tour guide (Erick) was really detailed and took care of all the riders, constantly checked up on everyone, stop enough for us to catch our breath and to give us details of a monument or important piece of history of LA, would recommend this to anyone visiting LA or simply just to get to know the city!!

Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike April 18, 2016My husband, my 11 year old son, and I visited the L.A. area for the opening of Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, and also wanted to check out Griffith Park. After looking at things to do on Expedia, we took the sunset hike tour last Thursday and had a great time! We originally booked the hike the Friday before, but it rained (very rare in L.A.)...so we rescheduled. Our guide, Carla, was very nice and shared some of the history of Griffith Park, the Hollywood sign, and the Los Angeles area. (After reading some of the other reviews, it seems like it would've been cool to have Eric as our guide, because he even shared video clips on his iPad. Maybe, they should provide all of their guides with iPads to get the same experience?) Our guide was great at taking our photos. The views were amazing! The website describes the hike as "moderate" hiking level. I would agree for the most part, but the very beginning of the hike was the steepest part, and my husband was breathing pretty hard. It was a good work out! There were many opportunities to stop and take photos. Our guide provided water bottles and granola bars, too. We liked that the tour ended at the Griffith Observatory as the sun was setting. Our son loved checking out the observatory, since he got to hold a part of a meteor, created a "mock" earthquake, and learned facts about the planets. This was a wonderful outdoor activity to do with our family and would definitely recommend this to others.

Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike February 4, 2016I did the sunset hike at Griffith Park with Eric at Bikes and Hikes - I had such a great experience and would absolutely recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see LA from atop. Hike was manageable for all skill levels and Eric was an amazing guide - he was very knowledgeable about LA and gave me countless stories and histories of Griffith Park, the Griffith family, the Observatory, the Hollywood Sign, movies that were filmed in or near the park and so much more. I learned a great deal, while getting my workout on. Eric was super informative and entertaining, as well as professional. The hike gave stunning views of LA during the hike and I highly recommend it!

Hollywood Hills Day Hike January 28, 2016Thoroughly enjoyed our bike tour of Hollywood with Eric...not only a great way to see the "real" neighbourhood but so much fun and way more informative than what we imagined - definitely recommend this to family and friends ten out of ten "Bikes and Hikes" keep up the great work!

Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike January 19, 2016Excellent excursion. We had been to the Griffith Park area of LA before, but did not know of all the trails in the surrounding mountains. Thanks to our great guide from "Bikes and Hikes" we got to explore those, hear about the extremely interesting history and stories concerning the park, and topped the evening off with a great visit to the Griffith Park Observatory. I highly recommend this, and my wife seconds that emotion !!

Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike February 21, 2015My husband and I did the Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike last weekend. While both of us are LA natives, and had been to the Observatory, neither of us had ever hiked in Griffith Park and we knew nothing about the history of this local treasure.
We booked our hike the same day and ended up being the only ones hiking with Erick. It was like having a private guided tour, but it didn't feel touristy at all.
Erick was not only knowledgeable, but he was also passionate about what he does, which is always great!
The hike was just the right pace for us and we totally enjoyed ourselves! We absolutely recommend it to locals and visitors alike and look forward to our next chance to hike with LA Bikes and Hikes.
