Come jam to the syncopated, foot-tapping, hip shaking beats of Afro-Brazilian music. Playing either a conga or djembe, this class will teach you how to play the huge variety of styles popular in Salvador, Bahia, such as Samba Afro, Samba Reggae, Samba de Roda, and traditional Candomble rhythms. Learn about Afro-Brazilian music and culture, practice your drumming skills, and make new, like-minded friends. You’ll have an amazing time building your coordination and rhythm, not to mention a new sense of community.
Note: You may bring your own drum or one will be available for you to play.

About the Teacher
Luiz Badaró is a critically acclaimed co-artistic director and co-founder of Viver Brasil Dance Company. Born in Salvador, Bahia, he is a master dancer, choreographer and percussionist who has been choreographing and performing for over thirty years in Brazil, Europe, Africa, and the United States.
