Come break a sweat at Caribbean Dance Xplosion!
Sure, learning routines and popular dances from music videos is good fun and an even better workout, but here, you’ll also learn the rich history, culture, and fundamentals of dancehall as a dance genre!
You’ll start with a warm-up, a blend of Afro-Caribbean and Soca “vybz” before launching into cultural and freestyle techniques. Play “follow the leader” by passing on styles then practice mini choreographies and dance moves like wining and ticking.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a whole repertoire of new moves you can break out at the club!
Note: This class is not for children under 13.

About the Teacher
Moiika holds a Bachelor’s in Dance Pedagogy. She began her career as a background dancer in music videos and on tours, including dancing for 2 shows during Madonna’s reinvention tour in 2005. She also won Miss California Dancehall Queen and competed internationally, placing 1st runner-up! Fun and energetic, Dancehall Queen Moiika is the embodiment of California dancing swag.
