Enjoy the sun on your face and a stiff wind in your sales on this high seas afternoon adventure. Pass around Smith Rock and then head out to the famous Port San Luis Lighthouse. Brace yourself for an exciting sail on the outer bay.
Try not to spill your glass of wine or a local beer as you brave the rough waters of the Pacific. Remember to keep a sharp eye out for both California Grey and Humpback whales but beware; if a whale is sighted you will give chase!
Hop aboard, matey, and keep a weather eye on the horizon!
Note: Two glasses of wine/beer and snacks will be provided.

Morning Sealife Sail June 7, 2017We had an unforgettable sailing adventure aboard a 44 foot sailing yacht. We saw whales, sea otters, and sea lions. Our captain was very knowledgeable about the ecosystem of California as well as the wildlife and proved to be a very good teacher. He was very friendly, informative, and his sailing experience is quite extensive.
We definitely plan to go on another charter with him the next time we visit Avila Beach, California. We would highly recommend this tour. -

Morning Sealife Sail June 2, 2017This sailing experience far surpassed my expectations. Mark is personable, knowledgeable, and an excellent sea captain! We experienced the most awesome whale show ever! He really knows how to find the whales and stay with them, not to mention the birds, the sea lions and the otters. If it was possible, I would give him 6 stars or more!

Morning Sealife Sail June 2, 2017What an amazing experience! I saw more whale activity today than I had seen on 5 other trips combined- in Hawaii, San Diego, Monterey.. Mark knew right where to look and followed the other wildlife straight to a large pod of whales. We watched them surface and eat, dive and glide and even saw one breach! What awesome creatures and they came so close to the boat! Mark had endless knowledge about the sea life, sailing and the Avila Beach area. I learned a lot throughout the trip and he was a personable host. The sea was rough, but he made us all feel safe and confident. Great trip- everyone visiting the area should try to get out on the boat with Mark. Exceptional day!

Morning Sealife Sail May 28, 2017This was an amazingly fun and insightful cruise! Captain Mark was very welcoming and a great joy throughout the whole ride. We got to see a whale and plenty of little otters napping in large groups nestled in the seaweed. We each had a turn at steering which was awesome! Oh, drinks were included as well on our adventure sail.
This was my first yacht cruise and because of this wonderful experience it will not be my last! Thank you very much Captain Mark, you are the best! -

Afternoon Sailing Adventure May 15, 2017This is the BEST sailing experience. Don't wait, just go and then go again and again. Every time is different depending on the season and the weather. Captain Mark is wonderful! He talks about history of Avila Bay and teaches about sailing, wind, waves and the wildlife. A GREAT experience! We've been twice and I can't wait to sail with Mark again!

Afternoon Sailing Adventure March 14, 2017Yet another amazing day sailing with Captain Mark! This is absolutely the greatest way to spend time in Avila. We've sailed with him now about 7 times and each trip has been the best! The weather was gorgeous and we saw several grey whales. Even if you're not staying in Avila, it's worth the drive just for this. Often we drive from home and back (6 hours) in one day just to spend the afternoon on the sea with Captain Mark. Besides being a very experienced sailor he is a great storyteller that keeps your trip lively and fascinating. Even if you don't see whales, it 's a wonderful way to spend the day, just relaxing on the sea. Highly recommended!

Relaxing Evening Sail August 14, 2016Everything about going out whale watching with Captain Mark is fantastic! He's very knowledgeable and has wonderful, interesting stories about the area, the sea and bird life, sailing, etc. His in-depth knowledge of how to find the whales almost guarantees lots of sightings (we saw at least 10 up close and personal). We did the sunset cruise and Capt. Mark provided us with lovely central coast wine and delicious appetizers. I'm so glad I live here so I can do this again and again!

Morning Sealife Sail July 3, 2016Captain Mark is kind, articulate, knowledgeable and seems to genuinely love taking people out on his boat. We had not even left the harbor and he was educating us about sea lions!! There are only 6 guests on board so there is plenty of room to move around and it creates a wonderfully personal atmosphere. The 2 and 1/2 hours went by so quickly. I felt like we could have stayed out all day with Captain Mark. He provided delicious snacks and beverages including local wine and beer. He encouraged us all to take turns steering the boat and move around to the front too. The best part was that he found three whales and took us to enjoy them. The whales seemed to enjoy our presence because they were still surfacing when we had to return to Port San Luis. This is hands down THE BEST experience anyone can have when enjoying Avila Beach.

Afternoon Sailing Adventure June 16, 2016Thank you so much Captain Mark for yet another amazing sailing experience,! For the past couple of years my Bf and I have celebrated his Birthday on your afternoon adventure trips...And will continue for years to come! We cant think of a better way to celebrate, relax, enjoy wine and chocolate gaining some of your knowledge of marine life and ofcourse seeing beautiful whales! Morning Sealife Sail April 23, 2016I was on a journey down the Northern Coast of California and while it was magnificent, nothing compared to my journey out to sea with Mark. We saw tons of dolphins, a few whales, sea otters, and sea lions. He is Super informative, his boat is beautiful, he is a class act and loved his snacks! I loved it So much that I'm turning around from Oakland tomorrow and going sailing again, just a few days after my first trip :-) I HIGHLY recommend Central Coast Sailing Charters and Avila Beach Whale Watching! Relaxing Evening Sail March 30, 2016I just thought we were going on a boat ride, but Captain Mark made it much more enjoyable with his vast knowledge of the sea life and Avila beach history. He is truly a gracious host and we can't wait to go back again! Our kids really enjoyed the tour as well, an all around great time was had by all.

Morning Sealife Sail March 20, 2016We had the best experience sailing with Mark! He was so down to earth! You can tell he really loves what he does. So enthusiastic and knowledgeable. My favorite part of our tour was when he plucked fresh seaweed out from the ocean and ate it, we then all had a taste! It was slimy and very salty! We will definitely be sure to visit Mark again when we are back in town!

Afternoon Sailing Adventure August 10, 2015Captain Mark is exceptional. He's friendly, on time, knows the history of the bay and took us right out to see whales! We saw at least 20 different whales that breached and showed off their tails the entire trip over and over again. We saw pods of dolphins and a baby dolphin too! Go see for yourself!

Afternoon Sailing Adventure July 26, 2015Amazing experience!! I was home in SLO and decided to go out on an afternoon sail with my sister and be tourists. I don't know why more locals aren't taking advantage of Captain Mark and his boat! He was friendly, accommodating and made the day perfect for us. I'll be going back out the next time I'm home. Everyone should hurry and go.

Relaxing Evening Sail June 28, 2015If you're in the area, I highly suggest taking a sail with Captain Mark! He's a gracious host with an amazing boat. We saw more whales in 3 hours with Mark than we've seen in 6 other whale watching trips combined! I can't say enough good things about this!

Relaxing Evening Sail May 17, 2015Absolutely the most amazing day on The Spirit with Captain Mark. We embarked with 6 people onboard into Avila Bay and immediately saw sea otters and whales. Mark did an amazing job educating us on the Avila area and its wildlife. We loved the snacks Mark had waiting for us as well as some wonderful local wine and beer. We can't wait to go again. This is a must for locals and of course our lucky tourist to the Central Coast.
