Beginners Salsa June 9, 2017Danella's group salsa is a great way to spend Monday and Friday nights :) I've never done salsa before and am not an apt dancer, but Danella makes it a fun learning environment.
So much fun! -

Beginners Salsa June 9, 2017Daniella is a great salsa teacher. I've been coming for five or six times to the beginners class. I've learned so much. I've brought my girlfriend and we love to dance together. I've started going out and dancing on our own and we have a wonderful time.

Beginners Salsa June 6, 2017I'm amazed in the quality Danella teaches the class. She gives really good instructions and I end up having a really fun time in class. It's okay to mess up and she encourages it to learn. So it's all about the dance! She brings a lot of energy to class every night, so that keeps this class much more engaging. There's plenty of people in the class and I meet a lot of fun, interesting people. I definitely recommend you give Danella's class a try. Her private lessons are just as great and I learn a lot more. I feel more comfortable with the new moves I've learned from her.

Beginners Salsa May 30, 2017I've taken several salsa classes over the years in both NYC and LA, and Danella's is by far the most engaging, instructive and fun group classes I have been to yet. We learn patterns that are actually useful on the dance floor - stylish without being incompatible with social dancing with strangers. She moves fast, which means you learn a lot every hour, but always takes the time make sure everyone understands, is up to speed and is having a good time. Plus, her methodology of building on previous classes and repetition really works to strengthen your abilities.
The group couldn't be more welcoming. Everyone knows each other, is willing to help each other out, and go out dancing together - it almost feels like an enthusiastic dancing cult that you've happily stumbled into upon the first day. I strongly recommend. -

Beginners Salsa May 25, 2017My fiancee and I took private lessons with Danella for our first dance. She was incredible! We foolishly waited until about 3 weeks before the wedding to take the lessons, but she did such a great job with the limited time we gave her to help choreograph a dance and teach us some great moves. We took 6 private lessons with her. She's very good at explaining steps and movement in a non-dance way, her analogies are spot on. Super fun, easy to schedule with and worth every penny. The key is listen to her and practice in-between lesson. Thank you so much, Danella!

Beginners Salsa May 22, 2017Danella is a wonderful teacher. I would echo most of the excellent comments below - she is a fun, intuitive, easy-going teacher who teaches keeps the energy and pace of the class really high. I have taken other partner dance courses, and this is the best I've taken. Why? There is a sense of community in the courses - the energy facilitates getting to know folks and the courses are filled with returning students who clearly enjoy the environment. I also really like that she mixes the intermediate dancers into the beginning courses, as it allows the beginners to learn faster and the intermediate students to polish the basics. As a queer student, I would definitely recommend these classes - they are mixed and incredibly open and welcoming. (I do wish these classes, though, would adopt the language of my prior classes which ONLY used 'lead' and 'follow' as descriptors - never 'guys' and 'girls' - as it makes queer students of all genders feel more comfortable and not the exception when you break into groups.) Overall, this is an awesome class which I look forward to each week. Danella has given me the inspiration to keep going to move into the more advanced courses and hit the salsa clubs in LA!

Beginners Salsa May 7, 2017Have been taking Danella's beginner level salsa class for 2 months now and it has been both fun and helpful in terms of building my salsa skills. She takes time to answer student questions and to go through all the moves at a pace that works well for the whole class. If you're interested in salsa dancing, check out a Monday or Friday class!

Beginners Salsa February 27, 2017Daniella is full of energy and very friendly! Parking is easy during the hours of her classes. I'm so glad I enjoyed it. She's an awesome instructor, she focuses on"dancing" instead of getting you bogged down with too much techniques to take the beginner right out of the beginner but don't worry you'll learn!

Bachata February 20, 2017Dancing is not my comfort zone, and this class somehow defies that. It's all about the teacher. She explains everything clearly, she keeps it fun, everyone has a great attitude, and you really do see results. I've had many teachers in my life, for many different subjects, and she is amongst the best.

Beginners Salsa February 20, 2017I have been coming to Danella's classes off and on for two years now and she has brought her A game to every class. She's extremely aware of who is in her class helping to cater to all levels. She brings a ton a of energy to every class. She is extremely nice and understanding while at the same time stern and pushes her students to do their best. I can't recommend Danella enough.

Beginners Salsa May 3, 2016Danella-is-Gold. No other place compares to the energy, information, and fun you have here. I wish I was overhyping it, but it's just seriously awesome. IDA is a little sketch with there entrance (when you find the bouncer yore at the right place), but amazing people show up. I'm in the beginners Salsa class on Tuesdays @ 7pm and every week it's new yet possible to grasp. Be careful though, it's addicting!

Bachata March 17, 2016Ms. Dutton is my kind of dance instructor. Not only were the classes fun and robust, you truly walk away knowing that you have obtained a skill under your belt and as an actress I can use some very needed dance classes with all the romance stories still in the making. At first I thougt, I have a little rhythm, but I can't really dance. But when she took out the time to show me that it was about just moving to a beat, but expressing who you are and what you want to say through movement, I found my pace.

Bachata January 23, 2016Socially entertaining and technique wise very informative. Patient yet productive. The class moved along well. Danella did an amazing job bringing new ones up to speed, while progressing those more advance. I will definitely be back.

Beginners Salsa July 29, 2015I really wanted to give Danella's class 4 stars.. you know, because nothing is perfect.. Well, to my disappointment, it turns out her class is actually perfect !! (cue cheers)
The beginner/intermediate classes I've taken with Danella are simply the best I have seen or been to. I've taken salsa classes in multiple countries and multiple places in LA specifically, never experiencing the improvement I experienced with Danella. I drive from West LA to Hollywood for the class!
Why are her classes perfect? Well, first there is Denalla, who's just unbelievably energetic, skilled, knowledgeable, and more than willing to help the slowest and the fastest learners at the same time. Then, there is her method, the mixture of warm-up patterns and drills, frequent inclusion and refinement of basic dance patterns, repetition of complex patterns, one evolving pattern per month (this is key), watching each individual and giving personal pointers, continuous group rotation, gradual buildup of speed and complexity, bringing advanced students to help with beginners, etc, etc, etc.
My only complaint about Danella's class is that it's sometimes a little too much fun, it makes the other evening activities of the week not as exciting. Oh and she remembers everyone's names, you've been warned! -

Bachata July 7, 2015I haven't had this much fun in dance class before! The environment is really friendly and energetic which is important because I am not a dancer by any means. I took the beginner class and started practicing at home. This month i'm taking more friends with me because of how much fun it was!

Bachata May 26, 2015I came as an absolute beginner, and never felt lost or left behind. After 3 classes with her, I was able to hold my own on the dance floor at a Salsa club with live band.
I also assumed there would be more single gals than guys, so we'd be short dance partners. But, Danella makes sure that is never the case by having her more advanced students come in to dance with us.
Great teacher; great fun! -

Bachata May 26, 2015Danella Dutton's classes are addicting. I have taken lessons with other instructors but have only continued returning to her lessons consistently. She challenges you but doesn't take you out of your comfort zone. She also pays attention in group lesson to her students by providing individual feedback to benefit your progress. I'm looking forward to progressing as a dancer through her teaching styles and techniques.

Bachata March 28, 2015I probably can't write enough about this class. Danella is sweet, knowledgeable, dynamic, an amazing dancer, and best of all an amazing instructor. Her classes are very well structured and fun at the same time. I have taken different salsa classes around LA since I have started dancing, but Danella's class is by far my favorite. It's the one that I wouldn't miss for anything!

Bachata February 11, 2015I came to Danella just a few months shortly after I moved to LA, and I'm happy to say I still go directly to her for dance training. She's awesome, very personable and has a fun & energetic spirit. One thing that makes her a standout is also her attention to detail.
I strongly recommend her to anyone that starting off, or just looking to sharpen up, especially if you're in the biz. -

Bachata February 10, 2015Her energy is unparalleled, and instruction is so clear. It is always a guaranteed good time with Danella!
