Beginner Pistol Course (non-NRA Certified)
Even if you hope you never have to shoot a gun, it absolutely can't hurt to know how to! Feel safe and secure knowing how to protect yourself in a dangerous situation with the skills you learn in this beginner's pistol handling course, held at one of the premier firearms, public safety consulting and training facilities in the west coast. Led by an expert instructor, this defensive course includes comprehensive orientation and hands-on range time to ensure you develop the necessary skills to shoot a specific type of action pistol. Gain an understanding of the NRA's rules for safe gun handling, the particular pistol model parts and operation, how to load ammunition, aim and shoot, maintain a pistol, and continued opportunities for skill development. Be well on your way to a greater sense of security no matter what type of situation you find yourself in.
Note: You must bring eye and hearing protection and water. The price of this booking includes the use of a semi-automatic pistol but does not include ammunition, which can be purchased at the time of your class upon arrival. The minimum age to participate is 14 years old, with parental-signed waiver and supervision. The exact meeting location will be provided upon confirmation of booking.

Beginner Pistol Course (NRA Certified) March 5, 2018I enjoyed my class and the instructor, Dean, was very nice and patient. I just wish it had been longer than 1 1/2 hours; that was with a 10 min break too. Overall though, a good experience.

Beginner Pistol Course (non-NRA Certified) April 17, 2016Chief Instructor Cruz teaches all his students, young or old, from beginner - intermediate - expert with utmost professionalism and enthusiasm each time he is out on the range. We have known Cruz since 2011 when my eldest son took his first gun safety course with him and has continued on to teach my two other kids the same thing and others. Instructor Cruz has not lost any of the fire and enthusiasm over the years, if anything, he's gotten better at it. This training center is like no other, they teach everyone like their reputation is always on the line. They are always on top of everything. If you're serious and want nothing but the best. This place is it. If you just want a cheap thrill then I suggest you go elsewhere.

Beginner Pistol Course (non-NRA Certified) March 28, 2016I brought my two young kids to shoot for the very first time. Chief instructor Cruz had his instructors to give out the basics such as parts of the rifle and their functions, how to use sights, stances and positions, how to hold a firearm, and most importantly, gun safety drills. The kids were a little shy at the start but started to open up and enjoy themselves as the event unfolded. The instructors were of great support and there were 4 of them for the two kids! Chief Cruz decided to come into the fray and just changed the whole dynamics of things to a whole new level. Word for word the kids were responding with little more potency and meaning to their actions. Well worth the trip from Santa Clarita even though we have a few of our own local ranges.... Chief Cruz and Crew are second to none. Thanks Guys....

He knows his stuff and presents it to you in an engaging way and does exercises that aid in information retention. I'm currently taking the NRA Instructor course and will continue to take classes at Double Tap. Definitely the place to go if you're in the Los Angeles area.
