The Vault Escape Room January 12, 2020Overall experience was alright. I felt like because some details were faulty or not completely nailed down, the experience wasn’t as immersive, which ultimately would have made the experience better. And some clues didn’t quite make sense how they were connected.

Alcatraz Escape Room April 28, 2017Came here to do the Alcatraz room (my 42nd room) and might I say..they weren't joking about it being a physical room! We got there and did NOT know what to expect. Communication plays a HUGE role in trying to escape..so make sure you have great communication skills with your team. There's a fun satisfying feeling after getting through the first couple puzzles. They definitely thought this out as feeling like youre in jail.
The manager Robert was very accommodating and informative. He's there on Wednesdays and makes the game pretty fun. Love his attitude. Looking forward to trying their other rooms. -

Alcatraz Escape Room April 13, 2017Amazing !!! Best escape rooms I have ever been too! Sure the props and room set up is a bit janky but the thrill you get in each room !! So far my group and I have gone to a couple other escape rooms and we have done 2 out of the 3 rooms here ! The bank heist room was both fun and very good as a team building room ! The prison cell room was a great way to make your team communicate better and was very fun to get down and dirty
Going to do the last room very soon just holding off a bit ! So update to come soon -

Alcatraz Escape Room March 20, 2017Did the Alcatraz room. It was a bit stark when it comes to decor (as expected from a jail cell premise) but the puzzles were extremely creative and well thought out. We did our room with a stranger group that was doing escape room for the first time. It was extremely difficult for newbies and even for two people in our group that had done at least 15 escape rooms before! We only got halfway done in an hour and that was with 3 clues (we're only supposed to get one). When we were told what we missed, the puzzles completely blew my mind! My suggestion is that if the proctor asks for volunteers, the more experienced individuals should go. And know that there are false clues so don't fixate on one thing, which was our mistake.
The reason why a star was knocked down was due to the fact that during our game, we had to unlock a lock. We had been warned before going in not to try to force anything open. We had the right combination but the lock got stuck, which threw us off and ended up with us wasting 15 minutes of our time before we gave in and called the proctor, who realized the problem. It took a bit of brunt force and the right amount of jiggling to open the lock.
Overall, if you care more about creative puzzles/solutions than decor (because the environment didn't really lead to a sense of urgency) and like a linear style with a room that required a ton of teamwork and communication, Alcatraz is your room. -

The Vault Escape Room February 10, 2017What a thrill!!!!! Came here last night with a group of 8 and went into "The Vault." The first 15 minutes or so we were completely lost, trying to crack a code and asked for our hint, it was back to back excitement and challenges and the entire group had SUCH a great time! We made it out with 20 seconds to spare! Will definitely be back to try the other rooms. Highly recommend it for a group outing!!

Alcatraz Escape Room January 26, 2017Super fun and challenging. It's a good thing we had so many minds working on the puzzles as no two were alike and needed different perspectives. Wouldn't want to try this alone. We all had a great time. Definitely going back. Oh and we ESCAPED!!!!!

The Vault Escape Room January 12, 2017Before this experience, going to an escape/panic room was NOT appealing. I imagined feeling claustrophobic, hot, and anxious. During The Vault, there was a slight feeling of anxiety but only because I wanted to "win". I liked that the challenge was multi-room (no claustrophobia) aand didn't involve doing puzzles on paper. We beat the challenge a minute short of the record - bummer! I definitely recommend this. Makes for a really fun night.

Alcatraz Escape Room October 25, 2016Alcatraz is hard to get out of! But once it gets going the game really starts to open up! It was a fun and challenging hour inside a prison cell.

Alcatraz Escape Room September 14, 2016Was looking for an Escape room in DTLA.
A group of 8 tried Alcatraz and succeeded!
The person taking our reservation was very friendly.
Alcatraz was a great escape room that emphasized communication between members in 2 rooms and required a little bit of physical activity. Nonetheless, it was a great experience and was very well though out. Throughout the experience we were continually surprised at what would be our next task.
I would recommend this for groups looking for a break between all the eating and drinking offered in DTLA. -

The Vault Escape Room August 31, 2016We took a large group of in-and-out-of-town family here, and THE VAULT room did not disappoint! From start to finish we had an amazing time and the front house staff (Robert) was flipping phenomenal!!!!! We had some initial skeptics in our group, but once we started, the entire experience was so much fun (great clues!!!). My only wish is that I could have taken a picture of my brother-in-law and husband as they worked the "Mission Impossible" light beams!!!! Great intellectual stimulation...and WE ESCAPED with three minutes to spare! Thanks Robert, for being such a great host. Every single person in our group fell in love with the challenge and promise to spread the word! Keep up the great work!

The Vault Escape Room August 14, 2016Barely completed the Vault. Definitely one of the more challenging escape rooms I've done, I got out with only 2 minutes to spare.
The opening seems a little simple, and vague. But the later rooms definitely do get more stimulating and with slightly more production value.
At least for the Vault, there isn't too much physical activity required, so it's great for beginners or older players.
However in the end, the puzzles were a little underwhelming and the spaces didn't create the level of excitement and intrigue I've found at other places. -

Alcatraz Escape Room March 9, 2016This was my first escape room experience and everyone had a blast! Staff was lively and friendly, and although the neighborhood is not where I'd want to be alone at night (it's basically in an alley in DTLA), I wouldn't mind coming here again. Parking was free and easy to find anyway.
There are cubbies and lockers for you to stash your belongings, but if you want the security of a locker, "Like" them on Facebook or something and your locker rental is free. The room holds a maximum of 10 people so there is a good chance you might be playing with strangers if your immediate party doesn't have 10 people already. Game time starts only when all parties are present, so make sure you arrive early lest you want to cut into your game time. A friend thought the rooms looked a little plain compared to another escape room he'd done prior to doing this one, but it does get better as the game progresses. I wish I could say more about what to expect, but I don't want to spoil anything =P
All in all, great activity to do that involves encouragement and teamwork. Although we were FAR from escaping (so embarrassing), it was a great experience and I can safely say that I'm officially addicted to escape rooms, thanks to EscapeIQ. -

Alcatraz Escape Room February 28, 2016I have done a few escape rooms and by far this one has been my favorite I don't want to give too much away because I want you guys to experience it, but it was fun crawling through tunnels.. And solving all these well setup puzzles! Happy escaping! We succeeded with no clues and 15 min to spare!

The Vault Escape Room February 12, 2016Came here with my friends for my birthday and it was a blast!
The building is pretty easy to locate because there's a painted mural that says "EscapeIQ." But we were a little confused on how to get into the building because the door was locked. (We thought, is this the first challenge?) But soon after, some random dude who was on his way out opened the door for us. So if you're stuck at a locked door, just hang tight and someone will be right there.
This was all of our first times at attempting an escape room. Sadly, we did not escape the Vault but got pretty dang close! The puzzles were challenging but not impossible. There's some clues that are right under your nose and you just have to look at it in a different angle in order to get it!
If you get stuck, there's a button you can push and a staff member will come into the room to give you a hint. Every clue you ask for, you lose 5 minutes time. (but they add it in the end. eg if you escape the room in 60 minutes and you asked for 1 clue, your total escape time will be 65 minutes)
We'll definitely be back to try out Alcatraz! -

The Vault Escape Room January 28, 2016I have got to say.. this was one of the funnest experience ever! I've always wanted to try one of these escape rooms so when a friend wanted to celebrate his birthday by coming here, we all agreed!
The building that this is located in looks very sketchy and dilapidated, but this does not take away from the Escape rooms so don't let the outside fool you! Parking was very easy to find on a Saturday night, but the sign may be hard to miss.
Basically, you get 1 hour to escape a themed room by figuring out all the clues given to you. It is a great team building event for everyone. The most important thing is to COMMUNICATE! Our group was SO close to getting out. We played the Vault room. It was both challenging and fun! I would definitely come back for the Alcatraz room. A few of the people in the group who has been to other escape rooms before all said they enjoyed the room here better. Come give it a try!! -

The Vault Escape Room November 27, 2015This is such a super awesome fun activity to do with your fellow co workers. Great team building.
Being a fan of the mobile app game, I couldn't wait to flex my brain muscles here. But darn it, being a visual person, I need a pad and paper to work things out. Hey this isn't a team based event after all. So talk things out with your team mates.
From the two rooms available, we opted to do the "Vault". It's great seeing how teammates' minds work in solving a puzzle. And having an "ahh" moment when a puzzle is solved.
Unfortunately, with only one room left, we didn't end up escaping the room. Boo. But that didn't hinder me from wanting to come back for more. -

The Vault Escape Room November 2, 2015A bit confusing to find if it is your first time, but go through the door and up the stairs!
There's two rooms available at the moment, The Vault and Alcatraz. We tried the newer room, The Vault, and it was very fun. The room isn't as well decorated as some of the others I've tried, most likely due to the theme, but the puzzles were challenging and engaging. I do like the puzzles at the Vault much more. Some of the other escape rooms are very gimmicky but not at The Vault. Don't want to spoil anything so not gonna say too much about it! We did manage to solve it; of course, with a few clues.
Definitely want to check out the other room next time. Really fun spot to come with friends and give the brain an exercise. -

Alcatraz Escape Room August 22, 2015Went here with a group of 9 last night.
Advice (no hints):
- get there 15 minutes early
- use their restroom ahead of time
- they have lockers for your things (you can't bring anything in) for $1 or free for a social media check-in
- wear comfy clothes and possibly a jacket if you are a person that runs cold
- take your reading glasses with you
We did not escape, but were close...
FYI...They are on the second floor and when we rang the doorbell no one answered and we had to call up to get in...
Easy parking on the street (free)! -
