  Newport Beach Whale Watching February 17, 2020

  Great customer service, friendly staff and a nice boat. Downfall was that we didn't get to see much other than some dolphins because everybody crowded around the front and blocked the view for everyone else including my kids. My 5 yr old was sad she didnt get see a whale. The boat should be turned LONG ways with the side facing the whales so there is a Much bigger viewing area. Not allowing so many people on the boat would also make the experience much better. So we were somewhat unsatisfied with the experiece but overall everything else was great.

  Had a great trip! The captain and crew were very helpful and made sure we were catching fish. Had such a good time on our first afternoon trip we decided to book the night trip for that same evening. Highly recommended

  I went out with my hubby for a twilight fishing trip last night. It was so much fun. The crew was very accommodating to our needs. We asked them for a lot of help throughout the trip, they were more than happy to help you out and didn't even show signs of frustration. The Captain was also amazing and showed tips on how to dislodge the hook from the rocks on the bottom of the sea when the boat was anchored. My husband and I enjoyed our trip. Thank you so much!!!

  Just did a 3/4 day fishing trip. It was a fun experience and would definitely do it again. The captains were great and really made it fun. Caught a good amount of fish and it's only going to start getting better for the summer. If you are thinking of going you will have a great time.

  Fun day of fishing with the family. We are inexperienced catfishing and the crew totally took care of it. They put the Tackle on the the fishing poles for us they even help desk bait our hooks. We caught a few fish to throw back and a few fish to keep. Overall the crew was very helpful and made this a fun day for our family. Next time we are going to try a 3/4 Day fishing trip

  Well the front deck service was really good. It was my first time there and I have trouble of finding parking space. I call the front desk and the man help me out all the way until I found the location he wanted me to park. Finally I can go fishing so I was really hope I can catch something. I was going to a 1/2 day boat. I was on the 5th place on the line and when they start letting people go on the boat, some late old dude they just cut in my line and the reason I finally found is they wanted to get a good spot. Good spot was on the rear of the boat and I realize everyone was stuck in there fishing. It was really crowded over there so I decided not to go there and chill in some comfortable place. Yea the rear spot catch more fish but it was not really have any quality of enjoy fishing. Everyone shoulder to shoulder , really bad environment of fishing. I've been on so many fishing trip and the bite was slow. I ended up catch only small bass and some perch ( they taste really yum ) so

  Newport Beach Whale Watching April 4, 2017

  Loved my whale watching tour yesterday. We departed at 12:30. Weather was pretty good! We saw harbor seals, pelicans, and reg seals on the way out to sea. Then a huge grey whale that we followed for a good 30+min. Really cool! Then we went to see a huge pod of dolphins and pelicans feeding...crazy!!!!!!! There were thousands. It was unreal. Super intense. Would highly recommend but I think our boat got really lucky. 2hour round trip!

  First time whale watching, had been rescheduling since February! But glad we went yesterday, saw 3 whales thru out the whole trip and lots of dolphins.. it is a 50/50 chance but the young bald guy who was driving the boat, tried very hard to get us as close as posisble to see the whales and dolphins up close. It was a great experience!! Thank u all

  I have to preface this review with the fact that it was a beautiful sunny day with an extremely calm ocean. That being said, the part of the day controlled by humans was wonderful. The boats hold six people which is much better than the other tours we saw with 30 or 40 people on a huge cat. Because of the small size, the day was tailored to us. And it wasn't a fishing expedition, we went directly to the whale activity and stayed there for a long time. After that we headed toward Catalina and about half way between the coast and Catalina, we saw an incredible number of dolphin that played with the boat. Because the boat is small, we had a perfect view of the activity. The owner had a drone and made a short video of the whales.. the video was uploaded to YouTube. Although the tour is supposed to last a couple of hours, we had more than a three hour tour. So, what are you waiting for?

  Just did a 1/2 day sports fishing on the Patriot with my son Great crew, great food, great boat. We caught three fish. The only thing keeping them from five stars is no live bait otherwise great time.

  Went for the half day deep sea fishing trip. The crew member the most friendly and helpful ones among all fishing trips I had gone for (both on west and east coast). Mike is the best of the best.
  
  The only downside of the half day trip is that it takes us 90 minutes one way to the fishing spot so the total fishing time is reduced. Better book the full day trip next time.

  I went out with Nov 19 for a 1/2 day in the afternoon. Everyone on the boat was catching good sized rockfish and the sorts. However I had a 30lb yellow tail hit the line and what a fight it was to get onboard. Matt (deckhand) did a great job helping me through the fight and did an even better job of landing the fish.
  
  The captain did a great job telling us where we were going, how deep to drop our lines, and what we expected to catch. All the deckhands did a great job taking the fish off the lines, and fixing things for us if we got hung-up on the rocks. And the ladies a check-in we very professional and nice.
  
  All around a great operation.

  Did a half day fishing trip and had a fantastic time. The boat and crew were excellent. I have no complaints at all. My son and I had a wonderful experience. Crew members were very attentive and constantly helping as needed. I will definitely use this company again.

  Went out on Friday the 15th of July for a 1/2 day of fishing on the Nautilus, with a party of 7 n I was the only experienced one. Capt. n crew were great. We caught a lot of fish the last 3 hrs r so.
  
  The capt spent some time searching for a good spot to fish witch is a given if u have ever been on a charter or own ur own boat. We're fishin until we're catching rite.
  
  If u need help setting up ur lines, taking off a fish or whatever u need, the crew will help you almost before u even ask! So great.
  
  Great experience will def go again real soon.

  Newport Beach Whale Watching July 6, 2016

  We had a great time and seem to have been lucky seeing 2 whales and numerous Dolphins. The boat was not overcrowded so we got some good photos and the weather was glorious! Apparently June was a good time to see them so that was brilliant.

  Our first time deep sea fishing ever so not much to compare with, but the whole family (except our 7 year old who had nausea) enjoyed it and had a nice half day (6 hours) trip. We caught fish and as a summary it was a nice experience.

  We decided to go on the 12:30 deep sea fishing trip. We will start with the bad; the boat had way too many people on it. Lines continued to get tangled because people were literally elbow to elbow. Second, this was our first time fishing. There was no instruction on how to use the supplied rods or the best way to catch a fish. Bring a towel because you will get bait juice all over you and they don't provide anything to clean up other than the one bathroom. Make sure to bring a jacket as well, the trip out to the sea is about an hour with the wind being very chili.
  
  Now for the good. The staff was very friendly. They untangled the constant tangles and were very knowledgeable about the fish that were caught. They have a little café for burgers chips and drinks. Would probably go out again but never on the weekend unless they change the amount of passengers allowed.

  Newport Beach Whale Watching January 15, 2016

  We had our twelve year old grandson along with us for this trip. We all thoroughly enjoyed seeing a grey whale and a few humpback whales. Watching these amazing animals in their natural habitat is nothing short of amazing. They moved around the water and occasionally came right beside the boat. There was a professional photographer on board who then made 25 of his photos available for $20US. Beautiful photos of the whales, common dolphins and the bottlenose dolphin we had seen. I would definitely recommend wearing layers on this trip as you are out on the open water. There is some "inside" seating but it's more difficult to see the wildlife. This tour should be on everyone's bucket list

  Just returned home from California, thought we would try this whale watching trip. I have never seen a whale and felt this would not be possible maybe just a way to take your money. But..to my surprise these 3 guys do a good job of hunting for whale in late August. A footprint was spotted by the captain but he passed on it, then 13 minutes later a mate saw it. A blue whale come up. The captain turned the boat and advised us exactly when the whale would rise again. He did, saw his blow holes and then he did a dive, the captain knew the timing to have our camera ready. Good Job

  We had a Wonderful experience!!! We went on July 16, 2015 6pm whale watching tour. We enjoy the nice view of Newport coast for the first 20 mins. within 30 mins we saw 2-3 humpback whales! And one jumped out of the water right next to the boat. It was pretty cool! We also saw a ton of common Dolphins and sea lions. All the stuff on the boat and a guy at the check-in office are very friendly. We want to come back for this tour again soon.

  this was a awesome experience for me and my husband. we have been deep sea fishing before.. the big sport kind where you wait until there is a bite and then you might be able to pull in a fish. This was very different. We rented our poles, bought our weights and baited our own hooks. And we did our own fishing! The staff was very helpful when we caught something, quickly taking the fish off the hook and getting us back in the game. Lots of locals on the boat made it even more fun because these dudes know the regional tricks to catch fish. Food was cooked in the galley and was really good and reasonably priced. I have already recommended it to others as an excellent day trip. We will certainly go again.
