Leisure Valley Ride with Wine & Lunch March 9, 2021Solvang trip was our second trip. And we decided to try something new. Which was bike riding! It was around 25 miles.
And during the whole trip, Chris was really helpful to provide Solvang's history and fun story. He took Michael Jackson's house, Olive oil tasting and vineyard tasting. It was really great except weather...
It was around 54 F. We regret not to bring warm jackets. And it was intensively windy. Don't forget to bring some warm clothes!
Oh we also upgraded electronic bike. (Each cost 25$) It was worthy it to try. And after 25 miles riding, you wouldn't feel tired! -

Ballard Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch June 3, 2017Thoroughly enjoyed the tour through the Santa Ynez Valley!! Most of the roads paralleled some awesome vineyards and took us into a valley full of eucalyptus and other beautiful landscape. Tour guides were knowledgeable and were able to suggest other beautiful cycling routes we were able to take advantage of. My wife and I were able to rent quality bikes which made the ride even more enjoyable. Followed up the ride with some great food and wine in Solvang. This makes for a wonderful day!!

Ballard Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch May 19, 2017Loved the area and the small towns between wineries. My favorite was Los Olivos which had it all--excellent restaurants, inns and wineries. My e-bike made it possible for me to do the big hills and enjoy them.

Ballard Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch April 20, 2017A friend and I had a terrific time on this tour. Ballard Canyon and Foxen Canyon were our favorite days for the scenery of the back roads -- winding through wine and horse country. The catered lunches at vineyards were always tasty, top notch. At a few lunches we connected with another couple who were biking different (longer) routes than ours. Fun to have company. Our guides knew the routes well, the timing, sights to see, background and history. They were helpful in suggesting dinner spots too.
Corey was MOST helpful in tailoring our tour. We wanted about 20 mi/day before lunch so that we would have the afternoon to visit the small towns in the valley. We didn't have a car, but were able to Uber/Lyft around the towns ok.
We rode hybrid bikes all days except Foxen Canyon where we tried e-bikes for the first time. What a blast to pedal up the hills with ease! A great trip, great time of year, great group. -

Happy Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch February 19, 2016We did the Happy Canyon tour and we were very happy for sure. Awesome views of the wineries, horse farms, cattle ranches, and mountains. Smooth quiet roads from easy to moderate to advanced, if we chose to. Carbon frame roadbikes sized right and comfortable. First class food, wine, and olive oil, and other shops like a chocolate and lavender farm. Priced right. But best of all, a highly knowledegable and enthusiastic guide who was local and grew up in the environment we were cycling. What a huge difference to choose this company over others; we felt like native Californians and not tourists. We will be back soon for sure, and will recommend to all our cycling buddies.

Happy Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch February 9, 2016This was the second year we have organized a small group ride in the Santa Ynez valley as a corporate outing and we were extremely pleased with the intuitive, full-service experience that Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours delivered. The booking process was easy, the bikes were expertly fitted to our group, our guides set just the right pace and were extremely knowledgeable of the local wineries & biking culture without ever being intrusive. Each time the ride has been completely different yet delivered an absolutely ideal experience of cycling through wine country. Further, on both occasions, our catered picnic lunch on the grounds of a winery was spectacular. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours and gladly give them with our highest recommendation.

Happy Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch July 12, 2015I never thought that I would pay someone to go ride a bicycle for 5-6 hrs while on vacation, I mean that it seems like the wife and I are doing all of the work (pedaling our butts off), and I am paying them for the work out. Not true at all, the day started with great instruction on the bikes and the equipment with our guide Chris, along with an over view of what we could expect on the ride that day. If you have never been to the Santa Ynez valley before ,than you are in for a real treat. The weather is cool in the morning and warms up a little in the afternoons, I wore a long sleeved t-shirt and it worked really well to protect my arms from the sun and to stay warm in the morning hours. We took the 9 am Leisure Valley stroll tour on a Sunday morning. It was a AMAZING time biking on the side roads of the central coast, pedaling up a genital grade, not overly hard or easy just steady, stopping at a miniature horse ranch for sights and and a break from pedaling, and than off again until we reached the Never-land ranch gate for another break and our turn around point. Coming back was almost like coasting down hill, only pedaling now and again. we next stopped at a lavender farm for the opportunity to look and buy some different items. Back onto the bikes and on to a winery for wine tasting and a gourmet lunch, than off to Los Olivos for some olive oil and vinegar tasting, and back to the bike shop. In total a 20 mile round trip, 6 hour wonderfully narrated and guided tour by Chris our guide for the day, and when we arrived back at the bike shop all of our purchases were there waiting for us. A beautiful and amazing day that I would pay for again and again.

Leisure Valley Ride with Wine & Lunch April 9, 2015We had a great family outing! My parents were visiting from out of town and wanted to do a little sightseeing, some outdoor activity, and wine tasting. This was a wonderful combo.
Our guide, Tony, helped us plan a route to fit our schedule and abilities. He was a great guide; friendly, flexible, knowledgeable, and focused on making sure we had a nice time. We didn't have to worry about thing. We wound up doing Happy Canyon and then lunch and wine tasting at Lincourt. Great price point for all that is included (tour, nice bike and helmet rentals, water bottle to keep, lunch, wine...). Thanks again to the whole team for a memorable day!
PS Please note the building used to be in Santa Ynez, but they relocated to Solvang. It's also a bike store, so you can store up on gear or snacks before or after your ride if you'd like. -

Leisure Valley Ride with Wine & Lunch December 22, 2014The day we chose to visit wasn't their best day.
A miscommunication between two well-meaning guides meant we didn't have the experience we were expecting to have.
What happened afterward is the reason they earned five stars.
The owner, Tim, called and apologized. He was totally open, not defensive at all, and explained exactly how they had screwed up.
He tried to give me ALL of my money back. That seemed too severe. In the end he discounted most of the fee. I told him I'll go back and I will.
I found out that this company really cares about its customers, values its reputation and stands behind its work. As a customer you can't ask for more. -

Leisure Valley Ride with Wine & Lunch August 26, 2014We had a great time with our guide Doug. The ride was great and lunch by Ruth at the vineyard was excellent. Highly recommend this company for your bike tours!

Happy Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch August 18, 2014We have 3 young adult children, so biking is a great family activity. In discovering that the group was of mixed ability, the guides were able to adapt and break the group up based on speed. The majority of the ride was on quiet paved roads through gorgeous countryside. Lunch at the winery was perfect---cheeses, olives, salads, sandwiches, and dessert---and well deserved after a morning of biking.
All in all, this tour the highlight of our vacation. In addition, I highly recommend visiting the nearby city of Solvang afterwards for a little slice of Denmark/Europe in California. -

Leisure Valley Ride with Wine & Lunch July 25, 2014What a great time! Took the leisurely 20 mile tour option and we had a blast! The scenery was beautiful. We made a stop at Neverland Ranch (Michael Jackson's ranch) , rode by vineyards and horse properties, stopped in town for an olive oil tasting, had a great lunch at a local vineyard (the spread was AMAZING) and topped it off with a wine tasting. It was supposed to be a nice side excursion on our way up the coast but will probably be the highlight of our trip!

Happy Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch June 5, 2014Took the tour with a large group and had a very good time. The guides were personable, entertaining and responsible. Guide Hallie drove us to and from the biking site and provided insight into the flora and fauna of the region during the drives. She was eager to share her enthusiasm for all there is to do in and around Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez valley. Not being a wine connoisseur, I can't really speak to the quality wines we tasted at three wineries, but the atmosphere of each was very nice. The biking equipment and instruction provided by the guides was very solid. If you have the time to escape from all there is to do in Santa Barbara, I recommend taking this trip to the Santa Ynez with this outfit for some cycling and sampling.

Happy Canyon Ride with Wine & Lunch March 21, 2014My now husband and I booked this tour and fortunately we were the only ones, so it ended up being a private tour (score). Guides were great, the bike ride was fun & effortless. The prepared lunch ended up being romantic and special. I still have my water bottle several years later that I use everyday. Would love to do it again some day.

Leisure Valley Ride with Wine & Lunch February 13, 2014These guys are amazing. High end bikes and complete professionalism amongst the tour guides. Custom tours designed around your abilities and amazing lunches of cheeses, salads, fruit.
NOTE: This is not a "get on a bike and visit 6 wineries" kind of tour company. If you'd like to get a little exercise, see some amazing scenery, and finish your tour with wine tasting and lunch, then you're at the right place.
Once you ride here, you'll realize why Tour de France teams base their training camps here every year! -
