Mikko is one of the best tour guides you can ask for. He was passionate and only cared about stating the facts and that you were having a great time

We did the garden district/cemetery tour with Renee and the Voodoo tour with Robi. Both tour guides were very knowledgeable and had great information to share. The garden district/cemetery tour was very interesting and we got to see a lot of beautiful mansions and Renee pointed out the celebrity mansions and gave us some history of the neighborhood and of the cemetery. The cemetery was also very interesting. The voodoo tour with Robi was informative and super interesting. He took us back to the 1700's to experience the true roots of voodoo. Robi was really exceptional and even though we were in one spot for the majority of the tour he made it very vivid with his story telling. Both tours were great!

We took a cemetery tour this past weekend with Free Tours by Foot. Elizabeth Broussard was our tour guide and she was phenomenal. She had a lot of knowledge of New Orleans history and, despite the tour being labeled a "cemetery" tour, she provided a lot of back history about New Orleans. The tour was interactive and we loved her humor! The Saint Louis Cemetery was extremely interesting and definitely a highlight of our trip.
I understand these tours are labeled "FREE TOURS BY FOOT" but please make sure you do pay something at the end. She did such a great job and I imagine probably better than many of those tours where you are paying $20-$25.00 a person. I saw people walking away not even paying/tipping. This tour is "Pay as you wish" so, although you are not required to pay, I believe it's important to pay something.
Our tour guide was out in the sweltering hot New Orleans weather with scattered rainstorms... Through these conditions, she still managed to hold our attention because she was that good!

New Orleans culinary tour with Kayla on June 15. Fantastic! Kayla was a delight! Educated insightful explanations of the history behind the development of the cuisine in this area, including the differences between Cajun and Creole cooking, the local ingredients, the European influencers, and significant chefs and restaurants. Kayla made this a show and tell by bringing flavour samples in her messenger bag (this alone, told me she cares about making her tours exceptional) and gave us pointers to restaurants to try after the tour was over.
In addition, Kayla emailed us a list of her favourite and key restaurants in the area!
Please tip well if you take this tour, it was a highlight of our stay here and probably better than a traditional, paid tour!

I highly recommend Free Tours By Foot! Love the concept of pay what you think the tour is worth.. the guides were all very informative and entertaining. We took 4 tours, 1 per day for our 4 day day New Orleans trip with my college girl on Spring Break.
We had Mikko for the French Quarter tour, Kyle for Ghost tour, Renee for the Garden District tour, and Melissa for the Voodoo tour. They were all great !

I absolutely love the philosophy of this company -- pay what you want at the end, because their tour guides are really great! I was lucky to have Elizabeth D. for two tours while I was in New Orleans for a week. Also, we were able to walk right up without a reservation and (just barely) make it into the tour, which was fantastic!!
- French quarter tour: this is where it's at. What a fantastic tour of the French Quarter. Elizabeth really knows her stuff on the history !!!! I learned so much, and I keep telling people about everything I learned.
- Ghost tour: not my favorite. I appreciate that Elizabeth wasn't over the top, like most other tour guides I overheard (screaming, using obnoxious voices, all dressed up in "period" clothing). Elizabeth told nice stories that also tried to reflect the culture and history of Nola. I knew I wasn't going to *love* this tour, but Elizabeth made it enjoyable even for me :)
Tip: bring cash, and tip well! You should give $20/person or more, which is still cheap compared to the other tours in this area.

Our group did the Garden District/Lafayette Cementery Tour. We arrived a few minutes late, and informed our tour guide that we were running a little late. Denver our tour guide responded promptly and informed us, as to where they were at.
Denver took us around the Lafayette Cemetery on the first half of the tour. Gave us backgrounds of how the tombs were built and why. He was very knowledgeable and has tons of information and history of the place. He then took us around the Garden District neighborhood. Also have some insights and history of the homes and some celebrities that lives in the area.
I was glad that our group decided to do this walking tour. As this might not have been one of the places we have checked out while we were in New Orleans, especially for first timers.
I would highly recommend Free Tour by Foot, if anyone is looking to explore different areas of the city. You basically give the tour guide, what you think is fair for the tour. I would definitely do another tour with this company if I'm ever back in town. We really enjoyed it. Thanks, Denver for a great tour!

Seriously I highly recommend getting your tour through them!
We did the ghost tour with Stacey as our guide.
She was amazing!!!! She told all the stories with so much energy! Every story was super interesting and entertaining!
I loved that it was all true stories and that there was no theatrics included!
We were hearing the same stories the other expensive tours were hearing. So for the price you are not missing any of the great NOLA ghost stories!
Stacey was also super helpful when we asked for recommendations on how to spend the rest of the night after the tour was done!
The walking tour seriously flew by so quickly we would of loved to have kept Stacey out all night telling us everything about NOLA!
I really wish we had had more time to do more of their other tours!

James was our guide for the Voodoo Tour. He was fabulous! This is a great walking tour in New Orleans and you will learn lots about voodoo, its place in New Orleans, and its status as a religion today. Put this one at the top of your list!
If you've never done a "Free Tours by Foot" tour, this is the best one to start with!

Had a great tour with Melissa on the Voodoo tour. She was very informative on the history of voodoo in New Orleans. Found out many new things about voodoo that I never knew or what certain things meant but were the complete opposite of what I always thought. Went into a few of the shops that Melissa told us to go into. This is the 4th tour I've done with them and always enjoy them..its nice you can pay what you want but I feel 20$ is good for the time on the tour. they always have great guides

We did the Voodoo tour with James McWilliams. First thing I can say is wow! It was a knowledge overload in a good way. He presented voodoo with facts and dismissed the myths. It was so awesome to learn the true background of voodoo and not what Hollywood portrays. He was willing to answer all questions and presented all sides of the story! It was probably my favorite thing I've done in New Orleans! Very cool! If we encountered another tour or something not related to voodoo, James didn't miss a beat and filled us in on that stuff too! Loved it! I highly recommend requesting him as tour guide!
