About this Activity
There are many reasons to visit the Greek islands, the landscape and the food being the primary ones. Since it's impossible to reproduce the former, this class will give you a delicious island hopping experience, from Santorini to Skiathos through Kimolos and Syros -- without even having to leave New York City! Get the chance to explore the many health benefits of a Greek diet, which is free of elaborate techniques and includes nutrient packed fruit, nuts, legumes, and vegetables along with wheat, olive oil, and wine. Learn to cook with wild greens and weeds that are cheap and easily accessible to all and hence consumed regularly, are lightly boiled or in pies, and utilize fragrant spices such as oregano, mint, garlic, onion, dill and bay leaves. Your menu includes flat olive bread from Kimolos, Santorini tomato fritters, Santorini baked cod in tomato and garlic sauce, monkfish with onions from Skiathos island, and almond cookies from Andros island.
