Come enjoy 3 hours of hands-on Greek cooking in Calliope's kitchen in Brooklyn! You'll learn all about a cuisine based on the flavors and traditional recipes that her great grandma Finia, grandma Calliope and mom Anna have always cooked. Journey into Calliope's family’s true love for good quality, home cooked meals.
Legumes are a super food! They are very high in nutrients but low in fats and sugars. They play a pivotal role in the Greek diet and are consumed in many interesting ways. During your lesson you will practice some simple recipes and ideas of how to cook and pair them in your everyday cooking. You'll prepare Greek lentil soup (fakes), chickpea soup (revythada), baked giant beans (gigantes plaki), and split peas Santorini style (fava santorinia).
You will get to taste all of the dishes you helped prepare in class as well as take home some of the dishes cooked. The deliciousness doesn't end there--you’ll leave with a booklet of family recipes and new, in-depth culinary information so that you can recreate these dishes at home.
Note: Beginners are welcome, but foodies and experts can also profit from these lessons by exploring a more down to earth cooking philosophy and expanding your recipe portfolio.
