Last week, I had the pleasure of taking two tours with Citifari. The first was the NIGHT tour with Sam as guide. Sam was very helpful, knowledgeable, and taught me a number of new tricks. I wasn't familiar with how to effectively shoot at night, but do feel much more comfortable at this point. Sam uses an iPad to to discuss the shot at each site and provided recommended camera settings, which is very helpful for someone not used to shooting in manual mode. Our second tour was the LANDMARKS tour with Zoe as guide. She was very knowledgeable about the city and provided a lot of great information as we walked from site to site. A number of the sites were the same between the two tours and I have recommended that they find a few new sites to spice this tour up a bit. Overall, these were both great experiences and I would definitely recommended Citifari the next time you are in New York City.

Thank you Citifari for an awesome photography experience in the Big Apple! This is a must-do tour for photographers of every level! Rob was great in helping me get the best shots and explaining the technical aspects of each shot as we went along! I learned how to improve my photo techniques and got some great photos of landmarks. One-on-one was nice! I'm already in for the Central Park tour. It was so great for the price that I'll fit them all in if I can! Cindy H.

My wife and I book this tour and one from a competitor, which was more expensive. I think we liked this one more. Our guide was running a little late, but called us to make sure we knew what was going on - not a problem as the meeting location was B & H Photo and we love that store. We met up without issue and the tour began. It turned out that we were the only two students so we had a great time.
My wife and I are avid amateur photographers and our guide started by going over the basics. At some point, I politely tried to tell him that the basics were way too basic for us. He seemed to be locked into a scripted format, but eventually we broke him out of the mold and things got better...
Our guide had a book with example pictures, camera settings and other tips that made photographing from each location really cool. All we had to do it try and mirror the example photograph and we got some good practice, solid composition ideas and interesting photos. Our guide definitely knows photography and continually asked to see our photos to make suggestions and offer tips, which was greatly appreciated.
We made most of the stops that were planned as we kind of meandered through a mix of the planned agenda and some of our own given that there were no other students in our class.
I can definitely say that both my wife's photography and mine improved as a result of taking this class and it was a great value.
I would encourage you to give it a whorl as their guide book is a really cool idea and will definitely help work through the planned shots on the tour.

I booked the Landmarks tour for myself during a family vacation while the others toured around on their own; as another reviewer mentioned, it was nice to focus on photographing the city without the grumbling that comes from slowing everyone down! Our guide, Louis, was very knowledgable, professional and patient with our small group. I was pretty comfortable with my camera going into it, but I appreciated having appropriate techniques demonstrated one at a time as we arrived at each landmark. (Long exposure in Grand Central was definately cool!). This also helped me to 'see' photo opportunities throughout the city on my own and know right away how to best shoot them. I'm not sure we hit all the landmarks listed on the tour, but I enjoyed what we did. As far as doing something 'offbeat' on vacation, this tops the list!

Did the Landmarks tour in mid September and was impressed by the guide Zoe, I learnt some more photographic skills and also got some great pictures. My only comment was that I felt that she spent too much time texting on her phone and that we didn't have her undivided attention for the full 2.5 hour tour. Saying that I would do another tour with this company again.

My son and I took the Landmarks Tour when we were in NYC over the weekend. I have to say that it exceeded my expectations in every department! I felt the pricing was very reasonable. What I liked about the tour was that the guide worked with you and your camera to get the picture just right. He also encouraged us to get some different shots in each of the locations. As I am in NY quite often I will probably take the Night Tour next time I am in town. Highly recommended tour!!
