Poke Bowls at Home January 24, 2017This couple runs an intimate cooking class out of their NYC apt. I loved the way they re-configured some NYC landmark restaurant meals into do-able at home versions. Well organized and clear instructions--plus delicious results. Can't wait to try the recipes at home. A great way to spend an afternoon or evening.

Poke Bowls at Home December 31, 2016Really fun and informative class in relaxed, sociable, upscale surroundings that will teach you how to make the current bi-coastal culinary rage -- poke bowls. These are essentially lightly dressed raw tuna or salmon salads featuring Asian / Hawaiian flavors such as sesame oil, green onion, pickled ginger, sesame seeds and soy sauce over sushi rice, brown rice or quinoa. Healthy-eating-wise poke bowls are one step away from sushi, but slightly higher in calories due to ingredients like the oil and (optionally) small amounts of Japanese mayonnaise.
In this 3-hour class, you'll also find out how to use the fresh poke filling in half pan-fried / half steamed dumplings that are absolutely delicious.
Both Stephanie, the owner who facilitates and Chef Ken, who demos and leads the hands-on class, are absolutely wonderful. But come hungry - there is a lot of food to enjoy with the wines! It's definitely worth the money for a memorable afternoon. -

Poke Bowls at Home December 19, 2016I celebrated a birthday here and had an absolutely wonderful time. Stephanie is so helpful, and her dishes are creative and delicious!
The class itself is step by step and completely hands on, so even my husband (a more advanced cook) and I (a relative new-comer to the kitchen) got the swing of things quickly and had a great time. And then you get to eat everything :)
The space is beautiful with everything you'd need to whip up an incredible meal. Highly recommend! -

Poke Bowls at Home May 25, 2016I surprised my fiancé with this class during out trip to NYC. We had such a fun time with Stephanie. It was a wonderful low key experience, yet still very professional. Everything that we made was delicious!! Everything was already pre measured which helped to move the class along quickly. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely do it again!

Poke Bowls at Home April 3, 2016this was such a fun way to spend a few hours on a sunday afternoon! i kinda can't believe i dragged the boyfriend here, but he had a great time. stephanie, our teacher, creates a fun relaxed environment. i wish it hadn't been so cold because her space has an amazing HUGE deck and it would have been fantastic to be out on it while having a lovely tasty meal. i'm a fairly experienced cook, but i think this class would appeal to both beginners and intermediate/advanced. for beginners its a great way to get used to using tools and seeing some techniques.. but being a little more advanced, its still such a great learning experience. i got to use gadgets i never had the chance to before- I'm totally getting a kitchen torch!! thank you, stephanie! this was my first cooking class and you made it a lot of fun!!!

Poke Bowls at Home November 27, 2015Wow, what a great experience, especially for a typical barely-can-cook NYC bachelor like myself!
The ingredients and prep instructions for each dish were highly organized and the process easy to follow. Add in Stephanie's expert instruction and the fun, friendly atmosphere she creates in the kitchen and you have yourself a fantastic culinary experience. I never thought I could recreate a dish from a famous NYC eatery from scratch but Steph made it so!
Finally, enjoying your delicious creations with a nice group of City Cookin' classmates in an apartment with a fantastic view just tops it all off. Good times! -

Poke Bowls at Home November 21, 2015We were looking for something to do on what was expected to be a cool November weekend. We wanted something gave us a chance to really create a meal instead of just watching the lesson. This class fit the bill perfectly. Steph, the host, was really helpful and knowledgeable. This dishes were easy to make and all came out great. We got some really interesting tips (thanks for tip on pickling) and I feel much more confident making these dishes now. As an added bonus, the weather turned out to be really beautiful and we dined al fresco on their huge terrace. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and highly recommended.

Poke Bowls at Home November 10, 2015My wife and I loved learning from Stephanie. She is super friendly and incredibly knowledgable about cooking and even NYC restaurants. Learning how to make great dishes from famous restaurants is such a creative and different experience than other cooking classes we have taken. We are still using her recipes and can't wait to go back and learn more!

Poke Bowls at Home November 5, 2015Awesome experience with very friendly people. Stephanie knows what she's doing and makes replicating famous dishes simple even for the most kitchen-challenged such as myself. We went with a group of 4 and it was a lot of fun cooking, drinking and eating together all with an amazing view of the city.
