Get your groove on with castanets! This beginner flamenco class covers all basic aspects of flamenco, ideal for students without prior dance experience. You’ll learn strong footwork techniques, upper body coordination, and proper posture and breathing. You’ll also gain an understanding of flamenco music and rhythm, while developing key muscle strength and dance skills necessary for flamenco dance. By the end of class you’ll have mastered a new choreography sequence and be on your way to flamenco fanatic!
Note: Please avoid using shoes with a black rubber sole or heel, or shoes that have been polished around the tip and heel with dark polish.

About the Teacher
Dionisia Garcia was born in Spain and studied classic ballet with Marichu and Emilia Bailo, and flamenco at the prestigious Madrid flamenco studio, Amor de Dios. In 1995, Dionisia received the Spanish National Theater Award and represented Spain at the World Film Theater & Dance Festival. She has also performed all of the world and currently resides in New York City.
