Champagne Brunch Sail September 10, 2017Had a really great time. Captain and crew were great people, as well as the guests. Sailed past the classic NYC landmarks on the Hudson and East Rivers. Wine was good with some very interesting wine info as well as vessel history. Weather was amazing, which added immensely to the experience. Will do again, with more friends and family. Shout out to our sommelier, she was great

Wine Tasting Sail September 4, 2017Everything was great! The crew/staff were very nice and had a great depth of knowledge when it came to wine and sailing. The ship was amazing and it was nice being able to see the inside of the 80 year old ship. The views were spectacular and the ambiance on the ship was fun, energetic but safe. I would highly recommend this activity to others.

Sunset Sail Aboard the Shearwater August 9, 2017The boat was a little too crowded, a little too small, and it was a little hard to find. But overall, the experience was great. Awesome, breathtaking views, and the other people on board were very friendly. The staff was pretty cool too. I recommend to do this at least once in your lifetime.

Wine Tasting Sail March 1, 2017We enjoyed a beautiful day and calm waters, enough wind to have the sails up. Beverages and friendly folks on board! Nice waterview of The Statue of Liberty!

Wine Tasting Sail February 24, 2017On a fine summers day why not board a clipper ship and sail around New York Harbour? Board at Castle Clinton and sail towards Lady Liberty and back to Manhattan. A very relaxing afternoon and the backdrop is of course spectacular. Tip take sun lotion.

Wine Tasting Sail October 16, 2016We are a couple who are NYC born and bred. Never went to see the Statue of Liberty from Liberty Island and don't plan to. Lol. It is not necessary. In our opinion, viewing her from New York Harbor is enough, no need to climb. We love sailing also, so this day excursions was perfect.
We took the 2:15 pm tour on a beautiful October afternoon. We felt confident the crew was well trained and we were in good hands. The number of passengers was fine, we didn't feel crowded at all. Sailing with full sails up is so special. There's a cash bar so if you're in the mood for a drink, it's available.
This is no commentary, and I applaud that. The sailing is organic depending on the wind and the currents. One doesn't need a voice over the loudspeaker to ruin the mood. Most of the landmarks are easy to spot. If you want to ask the crew a question they are happy to oblige.
We were very happy with the cost of the cruise and felt it was well worth the money for the special experience. -

Wine Tasting Sail September 23, 2016Beautiful September day sailing around the Statue of Liberty what's not to like. Really good bunch of people working on the boat , beer reasonably priced and stunning views. Loved the music that was playing too.

Wine Tasting Sail September 9, 2016The cruise was great to view the skyline and take in an unique boat ride on a sail boat. I was able to get great photos and it was relaxing. The only downside was the amount of seating available on the boat. Many people had to stand which made keeping your footing a challenge. My advice is to get there early if you want an actual place to sit. This is not a tour, so they do not tell you about the skyline or buildings. I would recommend this and would come again.

Champagne Brunch Sail September 2, 2016I had the best experience at Shearwater-Manhattan by Sail. If you check in on YELP, you get a free beer or wine?! What?! That was a nice perk, and start of such a gorgeous experience. Staff was very friendly, and welcoming, and answered all of our random questions. You will have more locals, and peeps from Jersey on the boat. It's nice to get away from the tourists while still seeing the Statue of Liberty, and NYC. Not recommended for kiddos. More of an adult hang out spot with drinks. I also enjoyed my titanic photo with my boo thang.

Wine Tasting Sail September 2, 2016Wow , highly reccomend this to see the sights
So relaxing & just enough people to enjoy this ship
The crew got passengers involved to help raise the sails as we glided across the river
It took us all around the island

Sunset Sail Aboard the Shearwater May 25, 2015I liked that it was low key, no obnoxious music or partying. I just got to be on the water and enjoy the views.
It would have been good to know in advance that it's customary to tip the crew at the end. I felt bad because I didn't have any cash on me to do so. -

Champagne Brunch Sail September 19, 2014A welcome change from the "typical" Manhattan boat rides. The Shearwater has the NICEST crew of any company around. They go out of their way to make sure you have a drink and anything else you need (like blankets, it's windy at night).
They took amazing pictures of us as we sailed by the Statue of Liberty (including about a million retakes to get it just right!) and were so pleasant. We had a lovely evening and would definitely recommend! -

Champagne Brunch Sail July 20, 2014I can't recommend this harbor cruise enough... so much better than your regular run of the mill boat to Lady Liberty, etc. Took the sunset cruise with two friends and got some exquisite pictures! The crew were all very nice and very knowledgable. There were only about 48 people on board so it didn't feel crowded at all. A great, relaxing way to see the lights of the city, Lady Liberty, Ellis Island and so much more.

Wine Tasting Sail July 20, 2014Our daughter treated us to a craft beer tasting cruise aboard the Clipper City Tall Ship. The boarding area is in Battery Park. The ship is the largest of NYC's sailing vessels at 158' with 120' tall masts and is a replica of a pre-Civil WAR lumber hauling ship. This ship can hold up to 150. We didn't have that many but it did not feel crowded. We were the first ones on and grabbed a bench to sit on. Others stood or sat on other things on deck. There were appetizers of cheese, crackers, meats, but we didn't try much of it as we'd just eaten. They have different cruises to choose from--twilight, full moon, harbor lights, kids sail, lobster/beer lovers, wine tasting, jazz, out @ sea, and burlesque! There were 5 different beers to try. There was a wonderful breeze which allowed them to use the huge sails as they are intended. We were out just shy of 2 hours and went very close to the Statue of Liberty. It was a beautiful day and we'd go again in a minute!

Champagne Brunch Sail October 3, 2013We had an awesome time!! 4 women from Alabama on a girls trip to NYC and this was one of our favorite activities. The crew was exceptional ! Jeff, Hunter, Levi and our lovely captain, were friendly, polite, very helpful and just darn fun!! I plan to return to NYC in June with my daughters and grand-daughter and this will definitely be one of our stops! Thanks for a very fun and enjoyable time.

Daytime Statue Sail on Shearwater October 5, 2012Fabulous way to experience one part of NYC on the Hudson River. You will see the Statue of Liberty with lots of photo opportunities. Depending on which side you sit on the boat the New York skyline looks amazing too. A beautiful sail to enjoy the city. I was on the 12:30-2:00 sail time on a beautiful sunny October day.

Daytime Statue Sail on Shearwater August 5, 2012A friend from out of town was visiting, and this was on her tourist destination list. I actually love being a tourist in my own town, but afterwards I was asking myself, "Why haven't I done this before?" The boat was well maintained and we were comfortable on board -- not too overcrowded. It's just wonderful to see the city, Lady Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge from the water. And we had a gorgeous sunset, to boot.
