Invented by enslaved Africans in Brazil, Capoeira is a martial art disguised as a tribal dance. Influenced by a blend of African cultures, this high energy and fun self-defense system is internationally popular with women, men and children as an exciting and fulfilling way to stay fit. During this class, you'll develop greater strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, rhythm, and agility as you practice kicks, ducks, spins, and other basic Capoeira moves. Engage in sequences with a partner, and learn to play the flowing Capoeira game under the guidance of a professional. With an emphasis on the rhythm, music and culture of Capoeira, you'll partake in sing alongs, instrument playing, and fun Capoeira games. Enjoy a unique combination of martial arts, dance, self-defense, acrobatics, and music, all the while experiencing one of the most complete workouts and fitness programs you'll ever encounter!
