Jazz hands, jazz hands, JAZZ HANDS! Traditional jazz dance combines extensive Caribbean tradition and African American beat-syncopation... with jazz hands, of course. During this jazz dance class, you will be asked to embrace the unique history of jazz dance, and have fun with it. Learning the fundamental movements such as kicks, leaps, and shuffling, you’ll quickly be on your way to improved balance, coordination, and kickin’ moves. Shuffle your way to becoming the next Michael Jackson, or Fred Astaire.

Lara Duncan holds a Masters of Teaching in Early Childhood Education, and has taught dance to hundreds of children ages 3 to 10 in a NYC public school. While earning her bachelor’s degree at the University of California Berkeley, she cheered for Cal football and basketball with the California Dance Team. Lara has also performed lead and ensemble roles in musicals such as West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, Bye Bye Birdie, and Sweet Charity.
