Stick fighting? Wait, really? This may sound sort of like child's play. But really, stick-fighting dates back hundreds of years! It's original purpose was non-lethal control of a swordsman. From there, it developed as a law-enforcement practice. In fact, Japanese policemen still practice it today. Consisting solely of two-person kata practice, in which the swordsman attacks but is subdued by the person wielding the stick, jodo includes light contact, but no grappling or sparring.
