    Meatpacking and the High Line Tour

    Holy cow! For those looking for an educational tour of NYC, this beefy experience really has a lot of meat on its bones! Over the course of three hours, you'll trace the industrial age of the city from the 1840s to the 1940s while exploring the Meatpacking District. While today, many of the former warehouses and factory spaces of the neighborhood have been converted to posh restaurants and clothing stores, the signs of its very different past are still readily apparent. You'll view these signs alongside either a preservationist, or an urban or architectural historian, getting an informed opinion about the the district's importance to New York's late 19th-century and early 20th-century growth, and its decline following the emergence of container shipping. Included in this tour, you'll visit the High Line Park and early refrigerated buildings, and get a look at architectural remnants such as brick facades, and neighborhood's winding, block-paved streets. This incredible tour really packs a lunch! ...I mean punch!
