Everybody needs an outlet for self-care and relaxation, so why not explore this in a creative way?

This course will provide an opportunity for centering, relaxation and meditative art making.

You'll begin with deep breathing exercises and guided imagery to ease you into your creative practice. Your instructor will give a brief history of mandalas and their significance and then invite you to create your own! A variety of circle forms and materials will be provided for options to choose what feels best. Your instructor will model ways to use symmetry and alignment within mandala, to create patterns that bring balance.

The concept of making a mandala will be introduced as a tool for turning your attention inwards and finding your sacred space to unlocking potential. Many people find the process of drawing and filling in the mandala to be very calming. They aid in reflection of universe and self, with emphasis on symmetry, alignment and geometric images. Due to the use of repetition, similar feelings related to meditation and coloring are present. In addition, the structure of the circle serves both to provide a sense of containment and to decrease anxiety.

With emphasis on process over product, this workshop will aid in relaxing your mind and body, while enlivening your creativity and self-expression. And you don't need any prior art making experience at all!
