    New York in a Day

    (1)
For a newcomer, finding your way around Manhattan can be a bit like pirouetting blindfolded through a minefield: great fun until you trample the wrong person. Solution: treat yourself to a worry-free day of seamless oohs and ahs in Lower Manhattan with this guided tour! Up first, a visit to Wall Street and the NYSE, where you'll learn all about the city's financial toodoos and bespoke suit scene. Then, a more somber visit to the 9/11 Memorial awaits, which should be quite reflective (and not just because it has reflecting pools). After getting your money's worth in the financial district, the next stage of this tour ought to really float your boat. Explore the harbor by water taxi with your guide for a breathtaking look at the city skyline. Sail under the Brooklyn Bridge and alongside Liberty Island. Take time to revel in the sheer majesty of the scene, but try not to go overboard. A subsequent meandering about quaint Greenwich Village will lull you into a state of bliss. Learn about the Village's migrant culture and cuisine. Then, take a lunch break at Chelsea Market to sample some of that grub for yourself! Full on life (and hopefully cannolis), get in a bit of exercise with a walk atop the High Line from 14 to 23rd Street. Built atop a set of (no longer used) railroad tracks, this elevated garden is one of the city's finest examples of urban landscaping. But while the perspective from the High Line is rather lofty, it doesn't quite live "up" to the vantage point of your final destination. Put yourself in an "Empire State of Mind" with a trip to an 86th floor observatory. A pre-reserved ticket will get you past the lines, so you'll be free to take your time ogling the Big Apple as you part ways with your guide. And feel free to oggle mindlessly. It's really hard to trample irritable natives when you're 86 floors above them.

    Greenwich Village Food Tour

    (1)
Intrepid foodie, are you? We have a gut feeling this walking tour is going to be your kind of scene. That's because Greenwich Village and fine Italian fare go together like ... well, spaghetti and meatballs. Meander quaint streets abuzz with energy to build up an appetite, and stop in at a variety of shops and eateries along the way to satiate it. While you fill your stomach, your local guide will fill your brain. Insights into the Village's Italian culture and culinary landscape will help put each bite into context ... provided you can hear anything over the sound of your own ravenous gobbling. While routes and stops vary from tour to tour, you can expect a visit to Pagani Restaurant for homemade pasta and an olive oil tasting, a slice of pie at John's, and a treat from Faicco's, a popular family-run market. Small group sizes also make for an intimate experience, perfect for focusing on the glorious task of shameless consumption. The only question is ... how much fun can one one person possibly stomach?

Extended Met: Metropolitan Museum of Art in 3 Hours

In a museum as big as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, there's something for everyone! Start your tour in the ancient world, with a visit to Ancient Egyptian tomb models. Incredibly well preserved, these pieces were a more important discovery than they seem, as they offered pictorial insight into what life in Ancient Egypt was like. This insight continues at the incredible Temple of Dendur, fully intact and surreally displayed inside a naturally lit atrium, nestled in Central Park. Your world returns to New York for stained glass by Tiffany and then hops over to Britain to size up the armor of notorious King Henry VIII. Head east for the Antioch Chalice, believed by some to be the Holy Grail itself, the cup from which Jesus drank on the night he was betrayed. Believe the story? You’ll have time to debate its merits with your expert guide. For historians our next few stops are a true delight – the Greek and Roman wing contain elegant statues, imperial Roman busts, and intact frescos buried along with those at Pompeii.
