    Intro to Aikido

Developed by Morihei Ueshiba, Aikido is a Japanese martial art that focuses on harnessing one's own energy to either gain control of opponents or redirect them away from one's self. This form of fighting places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement. An excellent physical exercise and effective self-defense style, Aikido involves throws and joint locks derived from Jiu-Jitsu. You'll improve not only your overall strength through practicing different Aikido maneuvers, but you'll also learn to increase your awareness of your surroundings. As opposed to inflicting harm, you'll use the technique of redirection and neutralization to deflect an opponent's attack. Move in harmony with an opponent's movements -- not against. By the end of this session, you'll be better off to defend yourself, ready to take on any situation!
