    The Penobscot River Trip

    Pretty trees! Amazing canyons! Thrilling rapids! One thing's for certain about this splash-happy whitewater run: you won't know whether to be swept away by the beautiful world around you, or scream like a toddler on a tilt-a-whirl! The renowned Penobscot River offers some of the best river rafting in all of New England, with rapids ranging all the way up to Class V (that's the fast kind). You'll start your day off getting acquainted with the river as you run its lower portion, tackling Nesowadnehunk Falls, Abol and Little and Big Pockwockamus. Then, refuel with a riverside BBQ lunch, and get ready for stage two. The afternoon portion of your adventure takes place on the Upper River, where you'll tackle one thrilling rapid after another, with fun, totally non-threatening names such as "Exterminator," "Cribworks," and "Big Eddy." In the process, you'll also drop a staggering 70-feet per mile through a granite-walled canyon. No big whup. At the end of the day, you'll return to basecamp to enjoy a video review and pictures commemorating the experience ... Which, by the way, will come in super handy for all those occasions where you had your eyes squeezed shut.

    Full Day Guided Inflatable Kayaking

    Whitewater rafting can be a little daunting, which is why you want a device built for both fun and stability. That's where the FunYak comes in! The full day trip on the Kennebec River offers you the opportunity to paddle some exciting class II and III whitewater rapids in your own inflatable kayak. FunYaks are easy to maneuver and great for novice paddlers. The trip is guided and covers eight beautiful miles of river. You'll learn basic whitewater paddling skills, and it won't be long before you are crashing through waves and trying your hand at wave surfing. Whew. Sounds exhausting.     Kennebec River Full Day Rafting

    Getting a little too complacent with your daily routine? Try getting in touch with your wild side with Moxie Outdoor Adventures! The Kennebec River offers a class IV+ whitewater rafting adventure perfect for thrill-seekers. As you enter the steep granite walls of the Kennebec Gorge, large waves can be seen ahead. From this point on, the Kennebec River plunges 12 miles through a spectacular gorge with crashing class III - IV+ wave rapids like "Big Mama," "Whitewasher," and "The Alleyway." The high point of the day is the run through class IV+ Magic Falls. Families with younger children can opt to ride in a row frame raft or join the trip at the Middle River access point. There are many Class III + rapids from this point on, offering plenty of time for swimming and enjoying the river. You'll even get to stop along the river bank where your guides will cook up a steak and chicken barbeque with their famous Moxie Beans. Think you have the moxie to take on these intense rapids?
