Sick of being the boring one at the post-work happy hour? It's time you went on an adventure fit for the storybooks -- or at least for the watercooler.

Start the morning with a scenic ride along Gold Country Highway 49, which passes the river where the California Gold Rush started! Hop out at the launching point and get outfitted with your pfd (life jacket), helmet, and paddle. After the river safety orientation, you'll break into groups and dive into a day on South Fork American River.

Get to the good stuff right away as you hit the Class III "Meatgrinder", the longest rapid on the river. The morning session is packed with rapids that will challenge and thrill you. After the famous rapid, "Troublemaker", relax on a mellow section before your guides prepare a deli-style buffet lunch with all the trappings. There will be bathrooms there and places to relax and talk about the rapids of the morning and the next section to come - The Gorge!

The afternoon section, called the Gorge Run, begins with some bouncy whitewater and a chance to brave "Swimmer's Rapid", a small wave train, out of the boat -- it's a fun way to cool off in the hot summer. Then the river builds and enters the "Gorge", where the rapids come non-stop for six miles.

Cold drinks and snacks will be waiting for you at the finish line before you take a bus back to camp. Your guides will be there to thank you for coming and give you photo coupons good for money off your rapid photo purchase (if you wish).

Nobody's going to be calling you boring any time soon.

Note: Please advise us through the special requests box if anyone in your group has allergies, special dietary needs or restrictions, or medical conditions that we should be aware of.
