About this Activity
On this half day bike and kayak combo tour you will start at the top of Mt. Soledad. It's the highest coastal peak within hundreds of miles, offering a stunning 360° view of the entire San Diego coastline and even as far as Mexico.
You'll hop on your custom fitted Bianchi hybrid bike with your friendly, expert naturalist guide and zoom down the mountain (at your pace, of course) to the spectacular San Diego coastline, where you will check out San Diego's premier landmarks. The pace is not strenuous, but expect to do some pedaling over a few short hills. The bike riding on this tour is done within bike lanes on roads. The first 3.5 miles of your tour is downhill. The rest of the tour (approx. 10 miles) is done on the back streets of La Jolla, Pacific Beach and Mission Beach. The last leg of the tour is mostly flat, with a few hills (that can be walked up if needed).
Next you will walk down to the beach where your guide will provide a brief paddle instruction before helping you launch into the waves. You will kayak through the incredible rock formations and caves (if conditions permit), through the expansive kelp forests and wildlife hot spots, and cap it off with a kayak surf ride back to the beach. You can spot a variety of wildlife including sea lions, dolphins, harmless leopard sharks, harbor seals, bat rays, an abundance of brilliant fish, and magnificent sea birds. Every season brings a new set of wildlife to get to know. This is the perfect combo tour to explore San Diego by land and sea.
Note: You must be at least 14 years or older and must be able to swim. You will be provided with a multi-speed hybrid-type bicycle, helmet, a single kayak, paddle, life jacket, water, snacks, and expert guide. No kayaking experience is required. For safety reasons, going into the caves cannot be guaranteed, but you will enter when conditions permit.

Joe V.La Jolla Cove and Sea Cave Snorkel Tour (WEEKEND) September 2, 2017
My daughter and I had a wonderful experience. Everything was easy. We arrived too early because I anticipated lots of lines, etc. I like that they have lockers so all we brought was water. You can buy plastic phone cases there. Chose to just enjoy the experience and we will check out the online photos later. Matt and Mike were great guides keeping us safe while teaching us quite a few unique things I never knew...even after having been a San Diegan for over 40 years. Ask them why Garibaldi don't get eaten by the seals! Resident or tourist I would take the tour at least once. I am going back to rent and venture on our own next time. Maybe take a snorkel tour too.

Had a kayak and snorkel tour today. Was a great experience. Everybody was helpful and it was very good organized. Caves and sea lions were amazing. Our 2 guides during the tour did a great job entertaining us. Thanks for the great day.

Fist time doing this and I loved it. I loved the tour and the guides were very informative about sea life and surrounding areas. Learned a lot. And gave us tips on other places to visit. Even though the time inside the cave was short I still liked it. Definitely take a waterproof camera and take pictures. Sunblock is a must and taking a water bottle with you is not a bad idea. Will definitely come again.

We did the bike and snorkel/kayak tour. Great choices!!! Henry was our bike tour guide. He was absolutely hilarious! From the cheesy jokes to the sarcastic humor, he's my favorite tour guide ever! Don't be lulled by the description of "mostly flat or downhill" on the website. You will get a workout!
The kayak and snorkel portion was really fun. We even had a baby seal come over and play with us while we were snorkeling. Ian was really friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell safety was first priority with this company. We had a blast!

We had so much fun on our 10AM bike tour with Matt. It was not an incredibly strenuous but it will definitely make you work up a sweat! I really feel like we got to see a lot of great spots in the area from the sea lions to the caves to some really nice La Jolla homes.
We arrived 30 minutes early and claimed our free water bottles. Once our group was situated, we hopped into the van and headed up to the top of Mount Solidad. The views up there were amazing. From there, we coasted down in the bike lane and began to tour of the area.
