About this Activity
Visit Hurricane Ridge to watch deer graze in the meadows, listen to the distinct shrill of a marmot, smell the pungent perfume of a summer wildflower, or feel the snow crunch beneath your feet on a winter snowshoe. Then continue west to the glacially-carved Lake Crescent, where you'll delve into the fern-filled forests that line its shores, venturing to Marymere Falls if time allows. Throughout the day your guide will chronicle how Olympic's isolation and protection has produced these distinct ecosystems.
On days when weather closes access to Hurricane Ridge we may visit the sandy coastline of the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge or spend more time among the forests and waterfalls of the Elwha Valley.
Note: This tour offers complimentary hotel pick up. Kindly include in the special requests box where you'd want to be picked up. Must be 10 years of age or older to experience this tour.

We booked the small tour group to Mt Rainier before we left New Zealand as we don't get snow in Auckland and it was an opportunity do something a little different in the Washington countryside.
Marty our guide was great - we were very lucky, it was more a private tour as we were the only ones for the Sunday Tour. The vehicle - a 4 Wheel Drive Mercedes SUV, was very comfortable and roomy for the long day and deal with the snow once inside the Mt Rainier National Park. Marty answered all our questions and made sure we were comfortable on the two hour trip from the city to Mt Rainier. We had to wait about 10 minutes at Long Mire for the snow ploughs to complete clearing the road before we could go into the Park - we spent this time taking photos and visiting the very small museum - it was great to see what a Marmot looked like !!
On the drive to Paradise, Marty told us about the geology of the river beds, gave details on the flora and fauna of the area during the seasons. All the while it was gently snowing and looked so beautiful - crisp white snow covering the dark trees - stunning !!
Once we reached Paradise we decided to have lunch before donning snow shoes to walk to a small waterfall. The lunch provided by Evergreen was deliciously yummy, very healthy and plentiful. We spent a few minutes in the shop on the upper level to buy some momento's of our trip to Mt Rainier.
The snow shoeing was easier than I though it would be after some great instruction from Marty on how to walk in them. The snow walking to the waterfall was about knee high and very powdery so Marty kindly went ahead to make sure the water in the falls hadn't frozen and to pack down the snow to make it easier for us to get there. Awesome !! The view to the falls was great and we could see people cross country seeing across the other side of the valley.
This was an outstanding day from start to finish and we can't thank Marty enough for making this such a special day for us.

We did the full day Mt St Helens Tour with our guide Cindy.
Cindy was full of information and very friendly.
We stopped at the Lewis Clark State Park and did a Rainforest Walk which as nice.
Unfortunately we had a cloudy day which blocked our views for a lot of the viewpoints.
Lunch was included at a lovely little picnic spot and could walk around the lake after.
Then did a 1.2 mile hike to a viewpoint to the base of the valley.
Lastly we made our way to the Mt St Helens visitors center where we had a bit more of a view of the mountain, but unfortunately we could still only see half of the mountain.
Overall it was a very long day but was very interesting and informative to learn all about the volcano and the local area.
Probably wouldn't recommend for young children.

My husband and I went on a Mt. Rainier Day Trip with Marty and had an awesome time! We snow shoed for the first time at Paradise. He was very knowledgeable and made the experience unforgettable. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for a tour to the National Parks around Seattle.

The wine tasting tour was great! Learned so much about Washington wines (and wine in general). Got to see and hear about the process of the wine making, which was really cool. Emily was amazing and so knowledgeable. She made the experience a lot of fun! I've lived in the Seattle area my entire life and originally thought this tour was designed more for people visiting the Seattle area, but it turned out to be just as exciting for me. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn more about Washington wines... or anyone who simply just enjoys wine! The tour is great for big or small groups, you could even do the tour alone and it would still be enjoyable.

took a day tour from Seattle to Mount Saint Helens. The pickup points were at some of the hotels in Seattle downtown. The pickup happened bang on time and we started off for Mt St Helens on time. Highlights of this tour: small group, comfortable van, many restroom stops, light breakfast, tea/coffee, amazing wholesome lunch including very nice vegetarian choices. Plenty of time at Johnston Ridge visitor center - we could attend ranger talk, watch a movie and go for an hour hike as well. Now for the best part of this tour - that was undoubtedly our very knowledgeable, friendly and awesome tour guide Marty, Thank you Marty!!!

I joined the small group full-day Mt St Helens tour as a solo traveler. I don't have a driver's license not familiar the Pacific Northwest so I joined a tour.
I got picked up from the hotel I am living at right on time. Our tour guide is Cyndi. She is very well versed in wildlife and nature. And she is very knowledgeable about the area. She is also very considerate of our needs and try her best to make it as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible. It was a tough day for the Mt St. Helens tour as the cloudy weather blocked the views. But we still saw and learned as much as we could.
Throughout the tour we were offered delicious cookies, beverages and fresh beverages. We had lunch in the park and the food was quite healthy and delicious.
The tour was well designed. We stopped at several important visitor view centers. And on our way to and from Mt St Helens, we took our bathroom breaks at very scenic attractions such as Billy Frank wildlife refugee and Lewis and Clark State Park.
I would recommend Evergreen Escapes Mt St Helens tour if you want to take a day to learn about nature and geography of the Pacific Northwest.

Evergreen Escapes did an outstanding job with this tour. We highly recommend it. Andrew was extremely knowledgeable of the eruption, flows and ecology. We went on 3 short hikes as well as spent time with fabulous photo opportunities. Well worth the time and the moneY!

Really enjoyed our one day tour of Olympic National Park with Rachel. Liked the comfy 12 passenger van, the delicious lunch of grilled chicken, kale salad, quinoa, wine and wonderful cookies and Rachel's extensive knowledge of the park, animals and foliage. Long 12 hour day but worth it. Rachel picked us up at a hotel near the Victoria Clipper where public parking was available. Need to dress in layers as it got cold and rained on mountain top. I highly recommend this tour.
Speck411 .Olympic National Park Walk/Snowshoe Tour June 20, 2016
We joined Rachel from Evergreen Escape Tours for a very full and enjoyable tour that took us to the Olympic National Park and its surrounding areas. This is not a two hour tour, but rather one about 11 to 12 hours from pick up at your hotel or meeting place to drop off at your hotel at the end. Our terrific guide (Rachel) drove over 300 miles round trip in their very comfortable Mercedes Diesel Van and led us on two hiking tours. One was up Hurricane Ridge where we reached 5200 feet in elevation and it was actually lightly snowing and was in the upper 30’s in air temperature in the middle of June. So why go on a long tour like this? The answer is simple it was a real adventure and introduction to nature that you would not otherwise see if you did not have such a knowledgeable guide (who knows all the plants and animals we encounter and can tell you what is unique about them). The other hike was through a temperate Rain Forrest. This is the other type of rain forest we seldom hear of but are in our country and very interesting. They have many different types of plants and mosses we don’t normally see and in the case of this tour included a very pretty water fall some distance up the trail. This part of the tour was at a much lower elevation and was not uphill all the way. The entrance to the forest was not obvious and was through a hole in the vegetation that looked like a scene from a movie where you were entering a portal. We took one of the Seattle Ferries to Bainbridge Island from Seattle and it was a very pleasant and scenic 25 minute ride each way and another bonus part of the trip. We stopped regularly for rest stops one of which was on a Native American rest stop that had historical markers and wood carving and painting going on that we were able to observe. Of course everyone had to have a picture with a totem and there were several to choose from. Our group included people from their twenties to their seventies and everyone was able to negotiate the trip with very little problems. The trip includes a light breakfast and a gourmet lunch served at about 5000 feet at a picnic table with food Rachel provided from the Van. The lunch included Wine, grilled chicken and cold salad and starch and delicious cookies for all hands. No one went away hungry. We did see a number of Black Tail Deer and a couple Golden Marmots (which were very inquisitive). I think anyone would enjoy this tour and remember it for the rest of their lives. I can’t recommend it high enough. Give it a try, I think you will enjoy it. Dress in layers and bring two pairs of shoes in case the trail is wet and muddy.
Bruno B.Olympic National Park Walk/Snowshoe Tour June 18, 2016
Lovely trip. The Olympic National Park is one of those little known great places.
We went to the Hurricane Ridge and the Crescent Lake park. Did small hikes in both places. Will never forget the pine and alpine flowers smell on the first hike and the old growth forest of the second one.
Charlie, our guide, was a naturalist and a great host. Cheers for him.
Price-wise, it was a bit towards the expensive side... But it's America. If you consider renting a car, paying the park and ferry entry, buy food and all the rest, it might be a bit cheaper but not as fun, relaxing and entertaining.
I recommend it.

Just returned from Mt Ranier small group tour with Evergreen escapes and the day could not have been any better. Marty picked us up at our hotel right on time in a Mercedes suv. We drove about 2 hours with a stop on the way to use the restroom and enjoy French pressed coffee and pastries. When we arrived at the base of the mountain, he showed us how to use the snow shoes which was our first time but will not be our last. We climbed high enough to see Mt St. Helens as it was a beautiful clear day. Marty was very good about stopping when he could tell we needed to catch our breath. He allowed us to decide what we were comfortable with and didn't push. It was a fun and much easier to snow shoe than I anticipated and I am a bit of a klutz so if I can manage it, anyone in decent shape can do it and well worth the exercise for the views. My husband and I both are in our mid 50's but we both are fairly active and it was not a problem for either of us once we adjusted to the altitude. When we left the mountain we stopped at a picnic area with a beautiful waterfall and while we enjoyed that Marty laid out an impressive gourmet lunch spread with a local wine. It was delicious and we were starving after burning all those calories. Can't say enough about Marty. He was informative, patient and kind. As an added bonus for the ladies, he resembled the actor, Paul Walker. There was absolutely nothing about the day that was not perfect and we would definitely take the tour again and use evergreen escapes.

Emily took us on a terrific tour to three wineries in Woodinville. These were three high quality yet diverse wineries. As a wine enthusiast this enabled me to learn a lot and have an enjoyable experience. This tour would suit this novice through to the experienced wine appreciator. Thanks Emily for a great Day

I went on the Olympic Peninsula visit which was a full day schedule including a trip to Hurricane Ledge, the Olympic mountains and rainforest, the Crescent Lake and a ride on the ferry from Bainbridge to Seattle. I was in Seattle without a car, so this was the ideal excursion for me, all the hassle was taken out of visiting this beautiful area, I didn't even have to buy my own ferry ticket ! Our guide Justin was excellent and very knowledgeable about nature and the eco-system of this area.... we saw a lot of birds, plants and animals that I would absolutely not have seen if I had gone on my own: including dolphins, sea eagles, and even a sooty grouse ! Would definitely recommend this company for a trip if you are interested in seeing the natural environment and learning about it.

We were on a Sunday trip to Mt Rainier National Park as part of 6 to 8 party with Evergreen Escapes. Sad news all the others had cancelled, we thought now the day was a washout ! But no along came Rachel with the largest small vehicle and said if we wanted to go that was good enough, bless her. It was about an hour to the snow line but we stopped before and Rachel produced a wide variety of drinks which would put a cafe to shame. The rest of the trip to the park rangers station was rewarded with a lot of very interesting detail. For the first time ever we SNOW SHOED athough is not easy at first we soon got the hang of it and it was so much fun for about an hour. Then to the ranger station for lunch ? Rachel said for us to have a look around the displays, off we went and on our return we were amazed at the spread she had spread out on the table complete with salad, quinoa, chicken wine, cookies and table cloth all bought with her. The trip back was by a different route to make a change to see new things. This route had a quaint back woods eating house the Copper Creek inn famous for its blueberry pie and cream. It now has a new traditional way of showing your appreciation of the dish by licking your plate clean well I am British and it made the server girl blush so my wife said.
This was a full day but one of the best excursions we have ever done. Rachel was real good egg and I would recommend this trip and ask for Rachel.

I had an absolutely amazing and inspiring time on my tour with Marty. He was so knowledgeable and never failed to give me insight to a landscape I'd never seen before. I was a complete snow shoe/hiking novice but he was patient and most certainly helpful. We had amazing views on a beautiful sunny day. I will definitely be using your tours when I returns to the states in the future. Thank you
Tim N.Snoqualmie Falls & Woodinville Wine Tour December 17, 2015
We had a very enjoyable and educational afternoon sampling wines at several Woodinville wineries. Our guide Barbara was warm, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the art and science of wine-making. Each of the wineries (Brian Carter, Celaeno, and Patterson) provided a different experience, and different flights to sample. A delightful evening that we wouldn't hesitate to repeat.
Pickup was at the Willows Lodge, and a pleasant hors d'oevres tray was provided at the 2nd winery.
(Tour was booked as a gift through Experience Days)

We were on a very small tour (just us and one other couple). Both of us were celebrating anniversaries and they had a special treat for us at our second stop, a chocolate cake! You could tell they treated each guest as special. We went to three wineries with the first one explaining a bit of the process of doing a wine tasting. There were a lot of different choices in wines which was nice. We also got to see a bit of the Woodinville area. Our guide, Emily, was new but originally from Woodinville so she knew a lot about the area itself. The people that worked at the wineries were friendly as well. They had a good relationship with Evergreen Escapes which provided for a more intimate experience.

Lovely day trip, picked up from the hotel, ferried across the Puget Sound and made our way by van to the Olympic National Park. Rachel, our tour guide, was friendly and extremely knowledgeable teaching our small group (+_10) about the geology of the mountains and about plants and trees. Lunch was great and the walks in nature were wonderful. Unfortunately no luck with spotting an elk, but some deer, hare and chipmunks showed their faces. Recommended for a break from the city life. Wish we had more time to stay here a while.

We traveled with Seattle's Evergreen Escapes small group tour to Olympic National Park and loved every minute of it. Shawna drove our comfortable Mercedes van and was our friendly and knowledgeable guide (expert in the geology and ecology of the area), and even served us a gourmet picnic lunch! Evergreen Escapes and Olympic NP are a wonderful combination.

I was more than pleased with my experience. My guide was extremely knowledgeable about the interrelated geology, history, and social effects of Mt St Helens. It was fun, just the right physical challenge for enjoyable hiking, but most importantly, it was so impressive as a spiritual connection with our earth. Food, snacks, beverages were healthy, plentiful, and tasty. Ample chances were taken for bathroom breaks.
SanAntonioWinegal .Snoqualmie Falls & Woodinville Wine Tour July 7, 2015
This was my second Woodinville winery tour with this company. The shuttle picked us up at the door of our condo. During the drive to Woodinville, the guide gave us background on the grape-growing area and even provided maps of the region. It was great to understand how Washington began growing grapes and making wine. Then the first winery we stopped at gave us a wine-tasting lesson. I have tasted wine before, but it was nice to get a refresher and to learn some new techniques for the best tasting experience. Some of the tastings were great and some not so much. That wasn't the tour's fault as it's all about personal tastes. The guide was very knowledgeable, helpful, and a good sport. He was even willing to drop us off at a different location than he picked us up at. I highly recommend this professional, fun tour company!
